Hey, everyone!

Hope you're having a great Friday!

I just wanted to make you aware of a new tank hitting the Supertest. Today, we will start testing a new Soviet vehicle. This tank is a version of a tech-tree tank already present in the game. It is the historically accurate and riveting, T-34E. You can find some screenshots of it a bit further down in this post!

Gameplay-wise, this tank is fairly similar to its tech-tree counterpart. Apart from protective armor on the sides of its turret and hull (and a 76mm gun with APCR shells as basic ammo) the T-34E isn’t all that different from the original T-34.

It was initially designed to improve protection for those sheltered within, the armored versions of the T-34 were “handmade” by engineers and tankers themselves. Additional armor plates, jerry-rigged over regular armor, were a common frontline solution to weak points. There were also attempts to manufacture reinforced concrete armor. This factory-made armor never entered mass production, but it did undergo battle testing.

The first development stage of the T-34 armor dates back to 1941. In late 1941 (and early 1942) it entered mass production to be installed on hundreds of T-34’s. Later, the armor was ditched in favor of greater mobility and maintainability. The spring of 1943 saw the ‘second coming’ of armored T-34’s. A batch of 46 tanks was sent to the frontlines of battles, carrying several different types of armor. All of these were developed at Plant 112 in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), to counter German 75mm HEAT shells.

The T-34E that is entering the Supertest is based on the Plant 112 version. Its specs may be changed as we continue to test it and gather valuable data and community feedback; we’ll let you know if we tinker with the tank.

As always, please leave your feedback below!

Best of luck on the battlefield!

Looks cool; with the 76mm, I'm guessing it's a tier 5.

Looks like yet another game breaking Soviet tank. They won't stop until there's at least one at every tier. Balance schmalance.

New lower tier premiums is a great idea.

It would be nice if you had the option of running the 57mm or the 76mm gun on this prem (similar to the tech-tree tank), which would be a first for a premium. The two guns provide different play-styles, and I think the option to switch between guns would make the tank very popular.

Doesn't this make balancing difficult what with WG not really nerfing premiums due to some legal grey areas they're concerned about. That and players will hate any rebalances.

Hope the 76mm is better than the one on the normal T-34... because its hot garbage on the normal T-34... to the point where most everyone runs the 57mm.

Thats only an issue if either gun results in an unbalanced tank. Make the tank balanced with either gun and theres no issues. WoWs has quite a few premiums with selecatable modules (USS Sims, IJN Harekaze are two that immediately spring to mind).

I'm not sure what you're talking about. You seem to be referencing WG changing a prem after it's released whereas I'm suggesting that, upon release, the T-34E have two gun choices that can be switched between between games (just like regular tech tree tanks).

2 guns means often 2 different ways to play. This is why balancing happens, as one of those ways to play can become imbalanced through a variety of causes. You also tend to end up with a "better" gun so the other becomes irrelevant and unnecessary. IIRC this is how it works on WOT:Blitz (I think that's the one) that has this feature for some premiums.

The tech-tree T-34 has been around forever with both gun options and I don't think anyone would call it overpowered. I don't see how adding what is essentially a premium version of the tech tree tank would cause the situation to be different. If the tech-tree tank is fine, why would a prem copy not be fine?
