I just re-bought my JPanther and was wondering what gun I should go with. Should I stick with 8,8 cm Pak 43 L/71 or should I put the 10,5 cm Pak L/52? I know the decision is up to my preference but I only ask because I see some people using the 8.8cm and do good and also the same with the 105cm. What is your thoughts and opinions?

3 MOEs on my JP with the 105.

I never even considered staying with the 88.

It all depends on your play style.  I find I tend to do more damage and earn more credits and XP with the 88mm Pak 43 L/71.

I have a friend who does equally well in the 105mm Pak L/52.

I switch between the two I prefer the 88 to me it's a far more reliable gun

I personally stick with the 105. Whilst I acknlowedge the relative benefits of the 8.8, they are only relative. It’s not as if the 105 is in any way bad. Given my utterly impatient play style, I find the extra boom of the 105 to be worth it.

Thank you all for the replies. I tried the 88 and found it a good gun but I also tried the 105 and found I do much better with it. Now to figure out when to use HE vs AP.

When I firt bought my Jagdpanther I tried both guns, went with 105 and never looked back, 105 all the way. Love that alpha damage boost.

You should be asking about APCR, not HE. The HE rounds are only good if you're trying to kill an arty with more than 320 hp or there's a 30hp heavy tank.

Or if you're like me and like to load your 88 up with HE shells and pretend you're a flak battery...

the 88 is a good gun and makes grinding alot easier, but the 105 is the best choice. superior alpha and aim time while having virtually identical DPM to the 88 reduces your expose time to enemy fire. plus 320 alpha is alot better at finishing off tanks, which is something you want to be able to do as a turretless TD.

I tried the 10.5cm L/52 on the JPanther and instantly liked it.  Not only does it do more damage than the 8.8 L/71 gun, but it is more accurate than the shorter barrel 10.5cm L/28 barrels on the Hetzer and Stug IIIG.

Dispersion @ 100 meters:

Hetzer with 10.5cm L/28  =  .53

Stug IIIG with 10.5cm L/28  =  .53

Jagdpanther with 10.5cm PAK L/52  =  .34

the 105s on low tier vehicles are Derp Guns anly good and derpy vs. low tiers. 105s on tier 7+ tend to be good guns

3MOE on this thing.  My absolute favorite TD.  Flexible, decent camo, decent gun, decent alpha (for tier), fast reload - not a lot to dislike.  Only use 10,5 cm.

8.8 has the better fire rate, penetration, and accuracy iirc.  10.5 has the better damage.  On paper the 8.8 is 'better', but that extra damage makes choices about equal with one another.  One thing not mentioned by anyone yet is that some players won't be as willing to poke their tanks out in front of you if you have the 10.5.  Hard to describe, but I suppose it's some sort of psychological tendency for people to avoid things that 'hurt' them?

Edit:  Basically what Firemoth and The_Chieftain said, come to think of it.  Still, don't discount that fear factor.  It can save your life, once in a while.
