Frontline Mode + Micropatch Tonight
#1 Posted May 07 2018 - 17:33
Frontline launches today, check it out!
Frontline Mode will be available starting today from 12:00 PM - 1:00 AM CT.
We do have one release issue we are already preparing a fix for - platoons do not currently work with the mode. There is a micropatch scheduled for tomorrow morning that should fix it, downtime will be extended until approximately 6:45 AM CT.
We hope you enjoy the mode, our team has been working very hard on it and we think those of you who have been clamoring for larger maps to stretch your tanks legs out a bit will be particularly pleased. A feedback thread will be posted in the WCFR forum once it goes live, please take the time to let us know what you think!

Well, it's nice that the bug has been addressed from the very get go unlike previous times where it'd go weeks without a solution or even be acknowledged (friends list debacle)
I guess solo'ing up for now will suffice for tonight to get a feel for it. Have many, many tier 8s and look forward to the mode and the change in pace for attacking bugs is very welcome

What I look forward to is not Frontline itself per say, but perhaps the ability for more 5/10s or 15/15s at tier 8 during evening hours in regular matches
Not sure I will play much Frontline...

Woth even less VIII’s than normal I’m worried it’s going to be all tier X matches. Guess we will see

We'll see how well this alleviates the various problems of the current MM scheme. Many outcomes are possible, but the option for tier 8s in particular to get guaranteed same-tier MM on demand is the major attraction. This will likely mean less need for gold ammo, which is also an advantage of frontline over the randoms. In fact it may be difficult to justify playing in the randoms at all if frontline has an edge in profitability as well.
As of the concept of a bigger map and also a higher player count, that leaves us with no more 'open space' than before. Even a small map can have lots of options for movement and lots of usable space if the player count is sufficiently low. And conversely, even a very large map can be very confining and crowded if there's too many players in it. Many of the existing 'open' maps play the way they do specifically because of the 15v15 format. You can't make use of open spaces or flanking routes if you know that there's hostile guns watching them. But in late game scenarios with few players remaining, suddenly you see the potential for dynamic plays and use of what was otherwise unusable areas of the map.
So the key takeaways here are that A- same tier MM was desperately needed at tier 8, and B- the 'open space' you want can be achieved in the existing maps by simply having smaller player counts. Perhaps experiment with a 10v10 format?

First FL game. Played for about 7 minutes, game crashed to desktop.
After logging in, I ended up on the queue screen. Nothing happened. I could see movement on the minimap and could hear announcements, b but that is it.
Currently still waiting for the game to end so that I can try again.
PS
Finally made it back into the game, 2 minutes before we lost. Anyone else experienced this?

I played a round earlier and and in forward motion ("J" ) because I'm left handed I get timed out in 15 seconds if I don't release the "J" . Am I missing something?

The bonds reward is pretty disappointing. Only 1000 bonds if you complete it 4 times, or 100 for each completion.
I guess I will reserve judgment to see how easy it is to level up first, but I was hoping this would be a nice way to earn bonds without being forced to play tier 10.
