Anyway, I will absolutely commit to every random pub match I play, as they usually don't last very long. But this frontline match stuff was getting a bit ridiculous. Did I mention my match seemed to go on forever..?

5. make sure you put crews and equipment in all your tier 8s, you can select new ones (like rampage mode) after every death, but only if they are ready to play in your garage.  (its frustrating that you cant play both your 44 and 44-100 in the same match over and over...but it doesnt take into account 2x xp modifiers, so there is that)

 

anywhoo...its different...and relatively fun.

 

 

question

  • how long did that battle last?  6,000 xp isn't a ton if it was a 22 minute battle with a booster on.  one can pull that in on a x3 or x5 weekend without a booster with a good game.

 

I only played the mode on common test, but overall I wasn't that impressed.  I want to play some of my slower tier 8s when they aren't cannon fodder for tier 10 TDs and Arty, but in this mode they are also not very relevant.  Getting stuck in the middle of a sector that gets lost due to capture, and having 60 seconds to evacuate said sector while also NOT suiciding to the enemy hoards that just won that sector, and then getting hit by air strikes when unable to do so was pretty cringey.  Not to mention, that as the even progresses, and your enemies actually start acquiring air strikes, and artillery strikes...

 

I guess I can see it being used to boost crews in more modern tier 8 premiums, especially with the potential fun of 5 man super platoons, but at that point tier 8 strongholds is arguably more profitable, and more xp per minute?

 

For what it's worth, I'm currently sitting at 19m credits, and no real serious grind in mind  :/

Yea i dont see it replacing t6sh as a credit earner, it was just nice to see a decent profit at the end of the game.

 

however the xp gained was incredible, and always being top tier just makes otherwise painful T8 grinds manageable.  maybe time to buy the ism finally.

I just lost 5k in a win. No Premium account, using the loaner T-44 and T32, having to press 22 because the other team seemed to be 1/2 Defenders.

i personally have no desire to play it for credits in premiums...i just think its more enjoyable than pubs for grinding tier8s.

meh...take off all your expensive consumables and dont fire gold if your goal is to earn credits.  map is so large that you can easily get to repair points to resupply ammo.

plus add on personal reserves...and clan boosters (which appear to all stack in this game mode, unlike stronks)....id think it would outperform playing tier8 pubs overall.

Like I said, I know I'm not a very good player, but I thought I'd at least make more credits for that amount of time invested. I was just using regular consumables, and no gold rounds either. I don't think it was worth it.

In game FAQ said max battle time is 35 minutes.

I might give this frontline thing one more try tomorrow.

But if I get another repeat battle like the one I got today, I won't be playing again. I wasn't impressed.

just watched Mountainman on stream earn 160k and 8000xp in an 18min match in a tech tree 8.

 

he also got 25 bonds for some medal (couldnt see it)...and his rank booster was 100% vs my usual 50%...not quite sure why.

 

but yea, this mode seems to pay dividends for sure!

Which side was he on..? Attacker..? Or Defender..?

I believe I only made 18,000 credits in my first and only frontline battle. And absolutely NO progress in crew training either. "nice!"..."so worth it"...

According to vbaddict only two tier 8, non-premium tanks turn a net income in matches.  The frontline mode probably is in line with what tier 8s normally make.

he seems to imply that the key to winning on attack is to take a group of tanks into an adjoining sector and "overwhelming" the flag there with numbers to extend the time right off the bat.  

 

then take that overmatch to the next flag..and so on and so on....seemed fairly easy to win an attack mode using this strategy..and id also imagine that 5 man toons on attack will make it even easier.

 

now getting random pubbies to follow you is a whole nother matter =D
