I believe the reserves should be removed for two reasons. First, Frontline is supposed to be a fun mode, and I'm sure most of us can agree that being on the receiving end of a strike is no fun. Second, most Frontline players I've talked to seem to feel that the mode does favor the defenders, and the best strike uses I've seen have been on tanks sitting in the cap. Removing the reserves could help to make the mode more balanced.

 

Personally I feel the only reason they were added was because it was easy to do so, since the mechanic was already in strongholds.

 

To those that think the reserve should stay, what do you think it adds to the mode that justifies the issues I mentioned?

Airstrike is fine imo, its more area suppression with tracking/stun and doesn't seem to deal much damage.  Arty strikes do a disproportionate amount to lightly armored tanks vs. heavies.  Its just odd, they do next to nothing to a 252u on a cap circle but can nearly full kill a scorp g which makes their ideal usage not line up with what you'd think it would be.  I don't really mind either given they have substantial cooldowns and most people dont use them effectively anyways.  I am/would be happy with or without them, so i voted bacon.

It buys a little time so players respawning can help defend. So many times, I’ve had to retreat cause I and maybe another are outnumbered, since quite a few died trying to defend.

 

Sometimes the air strike/arty barrage results are enough to postpone the capture, sometimes not. But when they’re dug in and there’s no timer reset, that stall helps while allowing me to stay in the battle rather than sacrifice myself pointlessly.

I like it because the airstrikes actually counter camping and can be avoided if you aren't braindead, and the long cooldown keeps it from being annoying. They should remove arty from the game and just add airstrikes for LTs in pub matches as a consumable. That's how it should have been from the start.

The same advantages it adds in randoms, less predictability, doesn't get old/boring/state, more excitement, even better that your personal effort earns them.  It would be dull without it.

Remove them. They offer a crutch to people unwilling to actually maneuver their tank into flanking positions on the map.

Keep it.  The strikes benefit both sides.  Defenders can use it against tanks capping and the attackers can use it against those tanks who find the tough to get at hull down positions.  I do agree that players should not be allowed to play as arty in strongholds and arty/ air strikes should be limited to light tanks. Restricting to light tanks reinforces the forward observer/ scout role light tanks have.

I like them so far.  The fact that anybody can call them in on a camper, or important target is nice.  As is the long reload time between them.  I think that keeps it from getting out of hand.

They need to get rid of air/artillery strike.  SPGs fill this role just fine.  There's no need to give everyone on the battlefield carpet bombing capabilities.

there is no "nearly" - arty and air strike are both toxic, and having been on the receiving end countless times I tend to use them the rare times I load up my M41 Bulldog as well

 

I have been one shot killed by an arty strike in my own STRV S1, I have also one shot killed an enemy STRV S1, as well as Skorpion G.

 

they're also extremely potent to mediums, I've lost 3 crew members in my progetto from a single strike...  so much entertainment was had...

The airstrike bomber run is fine, it doesn't delete you but may finish you off if you're low HP.

 

The real pile of fecal matter is the arty strike consumable and the fact that arty can stack both strikes in addition to it's own stun strike.  

 

It's rage inducing to be whacked by arty, stunned, only to burn your kit and start to move just to be whacked by an arty strike with a buncha shells and if you survive that, guess what?  Oh, yeah, the bomber run to finish you off.

 

 

Arty players who pull that on me become my only goal and I'll spend the rest of the game seeking them out exclusively.

Wow.  I didn't even think of that.  I don't currently have a tier 8 arty, as I either sold them off or am still grinding towards them.  Now I have a motivation to either buy them back or finish the grind.  Nothing against you, but that kind of evil nastiness just sounds like a hoot.  ;)
