This is actually a test. They are using this to fine tune, get feedback, and probably bring it back for other tiers and possibly multiple tiers . . . I don't think they are killing it off, they learned from Rampage mode and are cautiously introducing a new mode in my estimation.

They are using this to fine tune....and as usual for another year or so....Smile_sceptic.gif

You can make good credits IF you finish at Major or General.  Anything below that is comparable to randoms (or worse) over the same period.  Remember, you could play 4 average randoms in the time it takes to play the average FL battle.  Netting 150k with a premium account for a Captain battle is a losing proposition compared to randoms.

I don't agree with that, although how you define "good" is a fair question.  I am statistically a mediocre player, but nearly every Frontline i played i made credits...without boosters mostly.  Now really good players clearly can make more and perhaps a nerf to earnings (as Tsavo mentions) may happen and be necessary to WG's bottom line.  For myself, if a good player earns more, no problem so long as i don't lose credits and better yet when i earn them.  How long WG can withstand an imbalance is one thing, but being able to earn is keeping overall enthusiasm hign.

That's kind of the point for why this or that mode succeeds or not.  Players, all of them, not just the upper statistically ranked ones, need that positive feedback.  They won't keep playing to be continuously losing.

Essentially this - the feedback from Frontlines has been almost entirely positive and the Dev team is fully aware.  However, there is definitely some fine-tuning and optimization work to be done and the hard data gathered from this session will assist in that.  I have no timeline to give at the moment, but I am confident that you have not seen the last (or the best) of Frontline.

I played frontline yesterday for several hours.  I kept a credit booster going the whole time and I have a premium account.  I netted right at 2.5 million credits.

I typically net about 500k to 1 million for the same amount of work in pubs.

Frontline has all these little extras that add up too, like slipping you an extra 25k more or less (depending on your tier or rank in the battle - I forget which it is) after each battle plus some premium consumables.  It all adds up.

In addition, a big factor for me is that I don't ever fire premium in FL, but I do of fire quite a bit of premium in randoms. That really makes the credits add up in FL.

Honestly , they could leave frontline just as it is , and rotate the tiers monthly , from iv to x and I would play it the vast majority of time. Always have it as one tier only , as that is one of the best parts of it. But changing the tiers would change how it plays with each tier and I would love it even more.

The map is FAR too big for tier 4 to play on it and even tier 5 would be pushing it.

I think this month's event is basically Beta 2.0.

There are many unintended bugs still in the mode, as well as learning how to optimize it better for mid- and low- end systems, etc.  They can get data on the test server, but they can get a LOT of data on the live servers.  And to find how various things in the game balance out (reserves recharge time, respawn times, capture times, etc) they need a lot of data to sift through and make adjustments.

I have no doubt this mode will be coming back, and it will be even better with adjustments and bug fixes.

Not for me. I actually enjoy non rush , rush ,rush ,longer lasting games. I play WWI shooters in addition to WWII just because of this. To occasionally have games that aren't flying around a'la arcade like and be more like actual tank battles were in WWII and I would be an enjoyable choice to have for me.

You should check out the alpha to this game then.  I'm looking forward to it myself:

If you don't want fast paced arcade gamplay then why don't you play games like Arma, Red Orchestra, and other simulator-esque games?

I do at times , but for playing only tanks I like the selection here , without the planes and far too modern tanks Thunder uses. All I'm saying is I would enjoy an occasional mix of not zipping around and playing Frontline with tier iv's and v's would be fun to me.

Oh yeah , I'm going to get in on that later on for sure , have watched some streams , just with playtime as it is with career and kids I've lately been pushing off the extra early access games is all , but that one definitely will be played at some point.

That's the main issue I have playing WoWs.  I enjoy the game once it gets going but the 3 minutes to get into range of red ship gets old fast.

FL is proof that single tier MM works and is FUN. Playing T8, and not being cannon fodder for some joker in a 268v4 or jpe100 or any t10 arty, is FUN. Knowing you can pen everything in the battle with out spamming gold (ya have to aim some!) is FUN. Respawns, I had some reservations with, but in THIS mode its FUN.

Overall this mode is the most fun I have had playing WoT in some time. Other than one map, which is pretty repetitive, I cant find much wrong with FL. Even the single map isn't really a huge downside since playing randoms really only nets a few different maps in a single session of play.

but they can scale it easily. (drop a lane, add the 10 tanks to the other 2 lanes)

as for tiers... i would say tier 5-9. never tier 10. this mode would be wasted on tier 10.

Don't care about Grand Battles, but please don't do anything to my Precious...(Ranked Battles)

That's the best place for a person with my MM to reap rewards.

Especially 10...would be nothing but 264s, 705s, derpy type 5s, Sconq, etc.

Back during Supertest last year the mode was fun but with all the buffs and questionable tanks added since then tier 10 would be a god damn mess I think.

The mode is on trial, pretty much like Ranked... They gonna fiddle with it some more, nerf the credit income to Random Battles level and up the requirements for any decent rewards, since its WG policy to screw the players.

BTW, did anyone noticed that its one of the best WOT battle mode so far and it "might" have something to do with the fact that they teamed up with another game developer??? Well, well, well!!!:sceptic:

I think Frontline has been the easiest way to earn credits since I've started playing this game.  The tier 8 premiums are just a joy to run and no getting clobbered by 907s and such.

Only easy if you run boosters or premium account. So,more wallet warrior stuff.

When they finish running through the data they collect from this instance, I can see them bringing it back for other tiers.

I'd like it if they started a new FL mode each month but for a different tier.

They could start with tier 5. Run it for 3 weeks. Take a week off so players can play other modes. Then, start a new FL with the next tier up. Once tier 10 is played, start back at tier 5.

Excellent idea.  Which is why they won't do it.  One thing I have learned from WG is they only seem to care about top tiers.  I am actually shocked Frontline is tier 8 - it would be like WG to have it tier 10.  I am also shocked about the new French missions tier2-5 as WG has never shown a care for people starting out.

Maybe they have turned a new leaf?  I don't know.  I don't think so.  I highly doubt they will have frontline for any tier below 8.
