TOO LATE!!!! There are many tech tree tanks i would buy if they offered a premium version.  KV2 was one, and now it's mine

To clarify, I don't give a cap about skins. I just wanted a premium KV2

Cosmetics are the best way to add value to the game while retaining the ability to avoid power creep to entice future purchases.

Granted, 268v4 shows that WG doesn't really care so much about balance in sum total, but the KV2R is a great example of how cosmetics and value adds that don't directly impact game balance can excite customers in lieu of implementing KV268v4.

That said, the BDR skin is... bizarre.  There's no real benefit to playing at T5, the tank is OK but not good enough to keep for most players, it's not a premium so you can't even get ok crew exp or credits with it.  Just odd.  Now if the skins could turn tanks into premiums (kind of like wows) then it would be an interesting question as to which version is superior.

Name some.

Cosmetics are a great market , games like Dota 2 , League of Legends, pretty much every MOBA&FPS pay their bills selling cosmetics.

That's my point. OP claims that model has been the downfall of many games.

I don't care if they add skins or not.  For me the draw would be to get a premium tech-tree tank.  I'm not interested in these but a premium T71DA would be pretty sweet for example.  Or think of some other T2-8 tank that you enjoy.  Now you get to play the tank that you enjoy while also making credits and training your end-tier crews.  For me THAT is the real draw of such a thing, playing a "tech tree" tank that I enjoy without needing to have a dedicated crew for it and also getting to make credits.

I'd rather they do this and keep doing it, than making things like the Defender and Chrysler KKK.

Dear Gentleusers of the Forum,

I'm here today to implore you, don't buy this new KV-2R or the BDR G1 B Skin!  Skins and the like have been the downfall of so many games.  It's just a terrible path for an MMO to take.

Soon they'll be pulling team members from development of new tanks, new tech trees, new maps; all to throw into this money sink of skins.

"Oh, we don't have to work on generating quality content anymore; we just need an intern with minimal art skills to make a skin and we'll sell it for $10!"

Jesus Christ please no.  Don't encourage Wargaming to go down this terrible path.  Refuse to buy into this skin thing.  We don't need a shop full of 50,000 skins for tanks and no maps to play them on.

Deny them this.

Maybe people can make their own spending decisions without someone telling them what to do?

Just sayin'.....

And when the game becomes a skin lottery fest with 0 actual progress in development we'll blame you.

Blame all you want.  I'm not buying any of those skins or that ugly [edited]kv2, but I don't need you or anyone else telling me what to do with my money .   NA has been on life support for the last few years if WG wants to milk it for all it's worth fine. They  There are other games out there.

There are some tech tree tanks I would pay to upgrade to premiums, no question

Would I buy a plain skin to make a regular tank look cooler, no way

As for skin making taking resources away from other things, probably not

Not buying a premium KV2 though, derping isn't really my thing, but killing them is fun :)

Dear OP,

Stop telling people how to play or otherwise do what they want within the bounds of the EULA and rules in the game.

THE END

Furthermore they already made it far cheaper to use existing camo in game as it can be removed and applied to other tanks. PLUS you only need 1 piece of camo to get the camo benefit in game, this lowering the previous cost of you choose this route. There is even a mod to make this easy.

You only need one? Cool. I can't wait until they create the cheeseburger skin. I'll be all over that!

Meh.  I don't think the slope is THAT slippery.  WG would still rather make fifty bucks from a new premium tank than ten bucks from a skin.  Besides, it's no worse than the way they've been killing the game with overpowered premium tanks.  (I wish the Defender were just a skin for the IS-3!  And if the Mauerbrecher were a re-skinned VK100l.01(P), I might have bought one.)

As you said, it doesn't take a developer to create skins, that's a graphic artist's job, and WG already has those people on staff -- so they want to keep them busy.  If there's not a new tank being created, what do they do?  They can't help the developers, so they either come up with new skins or spend the day watching YouTube.

And the KV-2 ( R ) is a lot more than a re-skinned tank.  It's a brand new PREMIUM tank that, stat-wise, is an exact copy of an actual, historical tank already on the tech tree.  I'm one of the players who keeps a KV-2 in my garage and plays it sometimes, so a premium version of that tank has real value for me.

I just want 2 things from WG:

1.- Let us choose to play w / o Arties

2.- A MM that really works

You know you're not going to get either one, right?

Quality content like Paris and the 268 v4? Don't get me wrong, I see your point, but I'm willing to bet they're going to do a bad job regardless.

I was going to buy the KV-2 until I found out those 30% off coupons don't work on specials. You want new premium tanks? You must buy them at full price in a ridiculous bundle. But you can have the old ones nobody wants at 30% off.

That 30% would be better used on a year of premium time.

You don't understand how economics work.  If people buy these skins, it's saying to the developers "Hey we like this do this more".  Which encourages them to further make more skins.  Which more people buy.  Which makes them make more. Then people will buy more.

I infer that you're not a free-market economics kind of person.  You don't trust consumers to make smart choices, and you think the market should sell them what they need instead of responding to their demands.  You don't trust Adam Smith's "invisible hand", right?

Look... I think it's fine for you to state what you want the game to be like, and educate consumers about their spending.  Calling for a boycott is taking it a bit far.  Using fear tactics ("this will destroy the game") seems like a grotesque exaggeration.  But accusing those who disagree of being ignorant of economics is just egotism. If you're right and the customers really want to buy more and more skins, WG should make them.

OP has no fundamental understanding of how either markets or software development works.

But in fairness, I have no idea how to make a CNC'd plumbing valve. We all have our strengths & weaknesses.
