So what is so great about this thing.......?

The gun is atrocious imo.... Sure it can aim it way up in the air..... But it doesn't damage much... has like no splash and no stun.... Useless for campaign....

(I'm assuming this thing was great though before arty nerf, I played bishop and wrecked everything with it)

I say the french tier 6 arty beats this thing in every way pretty much....

The M44 beats the FV304 as well. I still keep it for the good memories I had with it and I hardly play it now.

It used to be much better. I can't say because I never saw it, but I hear the Bert used to have the mobility of a light tank to go with everything else. Now, I'm with you, the Bishop is better. Same gun, one tier lower.

Bert is fast...... But I think a mosquito is more dangerous then his gun.....

Never saw it pre-nerf. Only have heard it used to be much better.

The pre-nerf Bert was a fun, fast, little tank that could keep most tanks perma-track until teammates closed in for the kill.  But all that changed when it became a larger Fat Albert.  It seems to do more actual damage now, but the Rate of Fire doesn't perma-track tanks like it used to, and with the size increase it is a lot easier to spot and kill.

It also has NO STUN.

Not that we need any more reasons to quit playing arty...

OP you missed the old FV304, when he was the most feared tier 6 arty. FV used to move like a light tank, and shoots hard like a derp tank, and shoot very rapidly for an arty. Because it’s high arc, it can cause a lot damage to high tier tanks with its small yet accurate gun. FV was Lefffff, the tier 5 French premium arty, on steroids.

FV was OP, so it was nerfed many times, more than other arty. Now you have a pea shooter that turns slowly, shoots slower, and missed a lot.

Back in in the day, you can hide behind your teammates, literally,  and wrack red tanks in front of you. So much fun!

WarGaming killed the fun a while back. It used to be my most entertaining tank to play at any Tier. I used to platoon with Tier VIII's through X's just to try and out-damage the higher Tier tanks in the game - and very often did just that.

Here are examples of when it was fun:

     http://wotreplays.eu/site/3398909

Nowadays, it's hard to break 1,500 damage regularly. >sigh<

My claim to fame is that I managed to penetrate a MAUS with my FV304 shell - along with most of the other Tier X tanks.

x.

Bishop, FV304 and Crusader sp, The best in the game.

Bert

-The lob, it can convince the best hid tank to move along.

-traverse speed, aiming speed faster than all other in its tier.

-loading time, fastest of the tier 5, 6 and 7 arty. Low damage potential far outweighed by tossing lots of shells.

-short range, as with everything else, the  closer to the target, the more accurate, no problems with over 1000hp damage per game. Can pick tracking, turret, or back deck.

-support class, is what was changed in the major game re-balancing. So, tracking and other module damage  is what the Bert is great for. Keeping a poor soul tracked (load time is shorter than victims repair time), and he is meat for the team.

-fast, can easily keep up the the front line, and out run enemies.

Try to get targets at the very far end of your shell travel so it will land more verticle. Your shell travel will be lengthened, but you should now start to see more higher damage rolls. Tanks hiding behind cover, in many cases can still be hit as well. Love getting himmels and Ruinberg in it.

Bert was castrated long ago OP it used to be a great fun arty that could and did double as a TD when it had too, could keep up with the fastest of mediums as they flanked, could circle strafe heavies and TD,s if needed and it could take on the ELC face to face and win, but alas WG nerfed arty but they nerfed Bert harder than most so now while it can still be fun its a shadow of its former self

Jingles featured one of my first games in the FV304 sadly the video has been removed from YouTube it was called "Bert the Avenger" and took place on Sand River but there are many follow on videos by other players Bert Rides Again ect for you to watch

It used to be about as big as an ELC, nearly fast as one, have something like a sub 10 second reload, and could shoot over literally any piece of cover in the game.

It was easily the most OP arty in the game. Idk about its speed, but its gun got nerfed with the introduction of stun mechanics, and its size was increased by a significant margain.

As everyone says - it's a tank that used to be fun, used to be somewhat OP (in the hands of the right person) , and used to be worth playing.  That was for the first year after it came out.  It still benefits from the positive reputation - but fails to live up to the reputation .

That said, in the right hands and on the right map it can still be a workable tank at tier and troublesome when high tiered - but against most 8s (esp. with the accuracy nerf) it's just frustrating for anyone who knows what it used to be.

Imagine the pre-nerf ELC with the M4 Sherman's howitzer but with an arc that let it hit tanks that thought they were arty-safe.

Now imagine a nerfed ELC with a Cruiser II's howitzer.

Bert is a shadow of its former self, my win rate in it steadily declining, but I still like playing it. It can kill tier 5 light and medium tanks in one shot. Will really wreck any open top TD's day. I keep it hoping it will get buffed someday.

The FV304 has only one use, to digger out stubborn campers that try to hide from what every camper deserves but rarely receives.
