Hey, everyone!

Just wanted to update you with some Supertest info.

A new tank is entering Supertest today—the Excalibur, a Tier VI British tank destroyer. Its layout isn’t typical for this line: it has a forward-placed turret with only 180 degrees of traverse.

Though bulky, the Excalibur has some good mobility. This is due to its specific engine power of 18 hp per ton of weight, it can do 50 km/h. It also has outstanding gun depression: -20°/+20°.

During the first Supertest, we plan to choose an armament for this TD, and thus define its combat role, so we’ll try two guns.

  • A fast shooting 76mm gun that leans towards DPM-based play. It has great aiming parameters and a penetration of 165mm with a basic round. Due to the relatively low alpha of this gun, an Excalibur equipped with it will be best suited for providing support fire from a safe distance.
  • A 120mm cannon that fires high-explosive shells and aims well (compared to other guns of this type). 450 points of alpha damage and 70mm of armor penetration will allow it to quickly dispose of weak-armored foes.

We’ll pick one of these guns depending on Supertest results. So, please let us know your feedback over the Excalibur and stayed tuned for more news!

Also, have some of those sweet Excalibur screenshots:

Other (non-official) sources show the gun depression to be -10 degrees. Are you sure about the -20 in your statement?

Turret and incredible gun depression.  Despite not typically enjoying TD's, I'm interested.  Potential HE gun..... that's kinda interesting too, even though some will despite it.

How's the armor?

Why not sell the tank with both guns? Either two tanks with a (H) for howitzer to differentiate, or maybe introduce gun choices for premiums. I’d love to run the 105mm derp on my Thunderbolt, or turn my Bromwell into a Derpwell for example

Its a mobile TD that’s very boxy. Safe guess that you’re gonna be looking at Hellcat levels or armor.

This^^^ Would make the tank more usable for different people. Plus, some may have fun with the 120mm...........

should be -10 degrees, turret only 90 degrees to the side and 50mm frontal armor

The 76mm's 2k base DPM is only average for the class and tier, and the premium pen can't be trusted to for instance pen a 252's lower plate, so don't get any delusions of grandeur. As of the 120mm's 0.48 base spread and 3.5 second aim time, keep in mind the comparison to the KV-2, which isn't a TD and has much more powerful HE. Also possible typo in the elevation angles, the stats quoted elsewhere show -10/+20 degrees. Clearly the high mobility, wide gun sweeps, and elevation angles are advantages that need to be considered in balancing the gun(s), but I think the numbers we see thus far are still very modest. At least in the current meta that treats bottom tier as the default state of being, moar dakka is the solution to many problems.

Would recommend giving the 76mm comparable pen values as those found on the Achilles' final gun, and generally improving the handling qualities of the 120mm. How its alternate shell types work is still a loose end as well. Also, wouldn't be a terrible idea to let it mount both guns, just to throw that out there.

Medium gun rammer, binocs, camo net, and crew trained for concealment.  Better mobility than other English TD's should be a big plus.

I'm good with WH 40K tanks, Anime styled tanks and pretty much every Mercenaries tank. My problem is the ridiculously high prices for what are essentially skins, or pay to win tanks.
Another issue is th very slow update schedule for the Console versions. Why don't WE get the soccer mode? Why no premium KV-2 WH 40K for us?

Well, we don't work in the Chicago office so afraid we don't really have an answer for you. Might be a good question for the WoT Console forum, though?

EDIT: We're also looking into the depression/elevation angles, will update once we have confirmation whether or not -10/20 is the correct value.
