I mean, I can respect grinding but this is just silly!  136 missions and I am 88% of the way to 100%.  Since it seems to require more and more per % what is that...1 third of the way to 100% crew?!

136 missions and not even close.  This is insane!

Did you start with a 50% crew?  Otherwise welcome to the grind.  Try to use your exp boosters, too many people ignore them.

Did you start with a 50% crew?  Even without boosters it shouldn't be more than 30-40 games until you've got your crew to 100% base competency.  With boosters and a little luck you can knock that out in much less.

Crews are also boosted by playing well, as that nets you more experience per match.  It's not a game of instant gratification, the long haul and grinds are the order of the dayhl here.

The amount of xp per perk goes up, so it's kinda funny that you're complaining about 1-2 skills, try grinding for 6+

I'm pretty sure that the experience requirements are logarithmic with a base of 2.

Given OP has 408 battles AND he possibly started at 50% AND we are most likely talking low tiers ... it might take a while ...

OP start working on crews when you reach tier 5, before that play with 75% crews and climb to the next tier as fast as possible.

Good luck and welcome to WoT.

Having a multi-skill crew is kind of like being boss-geared in a MMO. It’s supposed to take a lot of time and dedication.

It's my tier 3 crew that I got from training.  It has 100% base and so has no penalty AND the commander starts with sixth sense.  the 88% is for the non commander.  The commander is, I think, at 66% for his second.  My thought is that it would be good to get the crew trained a little bit before transferring them into, most likely, the T-34.  I also love LOVE LOVE the T-46!  So not in a big hurry to leave it.

My Matilda crew, which I moved from the tier 1 started at 90% base, I have had like 40+ missions and they only at around 97%.  This is BEFORE they can work on their skills!

Just nuts.  The grind for the tanks isn't that bad but the crews!

Eyeballing it, it looks like 88% is half way.

Sigh.

You are 400 games in, so you still have a lot to learn about the crew training, which is actually the most complex thing to strategize. Keep in mind that right now you are not good at all. It is alright, no noob is. As an example, I move my crews around my tanks a lot and retrain them to 90% each time. It usually takes 5-10 games at most to regain that 10%. And most of my crews are 4-6 skills. Don’t get frustrated. My advice is to join a noob centered clan. There are many clans out there where very experienced players teach noobs how to play. And I consider noob to be less than 10k battles because there really is that much to learn in this game.

My soviet heavy tank commander is my crew member with more EXP gained:

1,106 matches played (699 on Churchill III, 137 on IS)

On 4th Skill (85%) but have not used gold to change tank or reset skills, so would be sightly higher

Figure out which nation and class you want to play then buy a premium tank of that nation and class. You can transfer your tech tree tank crew into the premium tank and not suffer penalties or have to retrain them. It makes a huge difference

If you're willing to spend a little in the game, try to buy a tier6 prem tank bundle with Free BIA perk. They really ease the grind for crew skills, as you get Brother IN Arms instantly and dont loose it when you retrain the crew. Here's a few with such crew: Cromwell B , Rudy, Thunderbolt, Tiger 131, etc. You can also get the female crews, who get the same free BIA and also receive the 2nd skill @ 100% when you recruit them (I think). You can have em by finishing the Personal missions.

Otherwise, Yes!! Grinding crew is a long process and takes dedication.

Indeed, it is.  It's intended to make you break down and spend money on gold to buff your crews.  Coming over from Warships it was quite a shock how ridiculous the crew training is in Tanks.

Yah, it's gonna get worse the More Skills, the Harder the Climb....

Generally though, the First 2 aren't Bad, the 3rd starts to Push the Envelope, but 4 in Up can get downright Tedious....     Definately use whatever Reserves and Premium Tanks and Time you can to speed it Up....     I have a Number of 4 and 5 Skill Crews, most were Double Dipping thru Premium Tanks AND Grinding at the same time....      Some are BiA Crews which simplify things Greatly....

It also depends on the Tanks you use, if they don't Produce the XP for one reason or another, the Grind can get 100 times Worse....     Drive Tanks you Like and do well in, just like everything else in Tanks, even if you need to Retrain them just to Maximize the Skill Progression.....      It's Hard enough as it is, why turn it into More Work than it needs to be.....

I'll be doing alot of this myself soon, I have a Bunch of Tanks in need of Crews and Crews that need Better at their Jobs....

Check this out.  You can enter your starting point for any level skill/perk and see with a mouse click how much XP is required to get to 100%.

Hint:  It's a lot!

http://www.planetwot.com/Crewxp/

1.4 million XP up to and including your 3rd skill (and that's after getting the crew Major Qualification)
