When I boot WoT, I get to the launcher, then when I click play I get the following message: "Application has failed to start because DirectX hardware acceleration is not available or is turned off."

I have never had this problem until recently when I got a virus and had to reinstall windows 7.

I have checked under the monitor properties that hardware acceleration is set to full, I went into DxDiag.exe and could find nothing of use, I have made sure all drivers are updated pertaining to my graphics card. My gfx card is not standalone and is attached to the mother board in my laptop.

I use a studio 1749 from Dell, with 4gb of Ram, and up until this re-installation of Windows 7 I have never had this problem. Before my virus, all I had to do was install WoT and play, I've never had to mess with any of my computer settings or had to fiddle with anything what so ever. I can run WoT on highest graphics and have no problems but a FR of about 20-30.

I have even gone so far as to reinstall windows 7 again last night and this was of course no help at all.

I contacted Dell support and told them the problem and they tried to make me pay the $99 fee to have them help me. I have scoured these forums and many others for a solution and am unable to find one whatsoever.

maybe the re-install hosed your DX and you need to update that? sounds like you are trying to do the right thing but I didn't see you state you tried to just plain update DX? you checked on updating the card but not DX?

also by chance try to run windows update if you haven't already to force it to look at your machine it might find something you missed.

DirectX unavailable or turned off

Found that on the Tech Support site... tho' the solution they present is to update your video drivers...

I'd try what Worm suggests and update or re-install DirectX... can't hurt... Have you submitted a ticket to Support??  See what they say?

Ive tried updating Directx several times and it was no help. My laptop is running Directx 11, and is up to date on patches and drivers. I have also checked the tech support site and went through all the suggestions they had as well.

Try this. Vista and Seven are stock delivered with outdated DX9 (WoT uses DirectX 9) libraries which may cause some games not to start:

NOTE: A persistent internet connection is required during the (re)installation/update of DirectX 9.

I tried that download, and it says a newer version already exists.

I know there has to be a problem with the directx maybe not installed correctly, but I'm no computer expert.

I am lead to believe that it is a directx problem due to the fact that it is already downloaded yet I receive the error anyway.

When I go to the dxdiag, direct draw, direc3d acceleration, and AGP texture acceleration are all unavailable.

There has to be a problem within one of the directx or video driver files, because before I reinstalled windows 7 everything was running fine, and I never had to tweak anything to get the game to run...

I will try to factory restore, without saving any files and see if this will help. I only downloaded firefox and WoT since the reinstallation of Windows 7 so I have no problems doing it over.

The DirectX web installer is bugged and doesn't work half the time, use the full download instead,

http://www.microsoft...lang=en&id=8109

just extract somewhere and run the DXSETUP in the extracted folder to install.

My laptop is running Directx 11,

Yes and no. Windows 7 comes with DirectX 11, you are in no way shape or form using DirectX 11. To use DX11 three things are needed,

1. The operating system, either Windows 7 or Vista with the platform update.

2. A DX11 video card.

3. The game must be written to use DX11.

You meet #1, but fail at the other 2. You video card is only DX 10.1, and this game is only DX9.

Do you mean go to the site and click the link? Im doing that now but once it is downloaded, I extract it, then go into the file, then install manually?

I tried that and had no luck. Maybe I should try and delete all of directx and and reinstall completely?

When you start a message ...  DirectX hardware acceleration is not available or is turned off. On the computer there is no video (embedded video 256mb) DirectХ installed. Is it possible to run the game without the video card on a built-in motherboard video?

Nope, it is not. You need a graphic card with at least 256 MB dedicated video RAM.
Usually, Intel on-board graphic chipsets do not feature dedicated VRAM.

When i boot up WoT ut always says application can not be opened because directx hardware acceleration is not available or is turned off. I have tried downloading almost all of the directx's possible and when i try to open WoT it says the same thing it is BS.
