So what is the point of the tournament if there are only 4 tanks of rewards?
They should directly give gold even if it was in small quantity

The point of the tournaments is to play against people who are good at the game. It's a matter of dueling to see who are the best players. The reward you get is just a bonus. If you're playing in the tournaments to get the reward, then you're doing it wrong.

I've updated the times, groups, and prizing for this Saturday's 7v7 tournament.

haahahahah nobody plays this for the 'fun' of playing other 'good' players, don't embarrass yourself.

edit: i take back what I said but I still don't think tournaments without appropriate prizing will encourage the best competition.

Hope the move went well and everyone is enjoying Texas - I grew up there and plan on returning when I retire. Really quite happy to see these events return and thank you.

This is a joke right? A former gold league player doesn't think that playing against players who might be better than or on the same level as himself is fun? If that's the case and you were only playing for the money that's on you. Honestly that's fine, but let that be your own opinion. Saying "nobody plays this for the 'fun' of playing other 'good' players" is just wrong because there are certainly people who DO enjoy the really close engagements and the pressure those engagements put them in, so I'm sorry, but you don't speak for everyone especially me.

I was playing for the money.
90% of the gold league was only playing for the money, I asked basically everyone I knew in the gold league, nobody would play if it wasnt for the money.
It helped pay for school and other random [edited].

Ok. I have to disagree with the statement that if there was no money involved, no one would play. There are plenty of jobs out there that require the same amount of time and dedication that pay as much as gold league does, but you guys chose to play a tanks game. There is obviously some reason besides the money that you guys played even if you aren't willing to admit it - the game was fun. Like you said the money is a big reason to play the game, but it certainly isn't the only reason.

Competition was enjoyable, but not enough to play without a money prize.

I agree but what I'm saying is that in tournaments there are no skill requirements. People of all skill levels can go up against one another and people who are less skilled (like me) can learn what to improve upon in order to beat the more skilled player the next time they battle. That's what I like about competition and any reward that comes with it is certainly appreciated, but I don't only play to get that reward.

Anyways that's my opinion on the subject and it's fine if yours is different.

I will have to disagree with you.  Although I'm sure a lot of players would only play if there was a prize incentive, but there is definitely a good amount of players willing to just play for competition.  Personally, I like to see my name on leaderboards.

sure, but there is a huge incentive when there is an appropriate prize. people will put more effort into it. When there's something on the line other than 5 minutes of fame, the games get more exciting.

Winning a race is cool and all, impressive for a day or two. Winning a race that had a prize of $15,000, which incentivized the best competitors to show, is VERY cool if you won. Prizing encourages better players to show up, more effort put in, better end results.

I don't see why you guys don't *try* a 2-3 day tournament with a decent prize, with maybe two to four groups, which would have a good enough prizing for the effort put in. The games would be more enjoyable and exciting if there is more on the line. More effort is put in when the end goal is worth it.

Hey mods, any chance there is going to be an improvement for the joining of the tournament process?  I beat my head against the wall trying to join the 1v1.

Just received a popup that the tourney begins 'in 2 hours'.

Tanker, your battle in the 1v1: Patriot Showdown tournament begins in 2 hours. Get ready!

See attachment/thumbnail.

See last time this post was edited.

Should begin in about 5 hours.

Registration StartJune 28 at 10:00 PT | 12:00 CT | 13:00 ET

Registration End:  July 1 at 09:00 PT | 11:00 CT | 12:00 ET

Tournament Start: July 1 at 13:00 PT | 15:00 CT | 16:00 ET

Probably to be expected: Forum posts show a -1 h delta too.

I've created several support tickets in the past about the problems with the Clocks, timekeeping and Wargaming.

Curious, as Russia is synonymous with finely-crafted timepieces, and the Russian people are renowned for their punctuality.

Yes, after I won 2 matches, spent 24 bonds, idk how many credits, and saw that the person I played Match I didn't show up for the redux, thinking he'd already finished for the day.
