Fill in the blank.  I'll go with...Beast?

It almost feels OP at times, when you're doing the wiggle, bouncing everything, and dealing damage like there's no tomorrow.  That's magnificent fun, and it feels unstoppable at times.  Just push W, and click the left mouse button from time to time.  It's the first tank where I've truly relied on the combination of HP and armor, even more so than the Maus for instance.

That's all great, but then the next battle will be a reminder of how boring it can be because of how painfully slow it is.  So much time spent wasted, travelling to the fight, and often times, the fight is over when you get there.

It makes me dream of a T95 with speed and then I realize that tank exists and it's called the Object 268 Version 4.  Anyway, back on topic...

This post is actually a bit of a journal/experiment for myself.  I've played 45 battles in the T95, and that's how long it's taken me to unlock all the top modules, specifically the 155mm top gun.  I haven't tried it yet.  To this point, I've played it with the 120mm gun exclusively, and I've LOVED LOVED LOVED that gun.  I'm generally brawling up close, and the aim time and dispersion are just fine for that, pen seems good, and the dpm/rate of fire are excellent.

I get it.  The 155mm offers even more pen, and almost double the alpha, but the reload feels like a killer, and I feel like I'm going to have to change my playstyle with it a bit, not to mention that I feel like I've been taking people by surprise with my faster than expected rate of fire.  The wiki talks about both guns as viable - they are both Tier X after all - but it's clear the 155mm is preferred, and even more so when you start searching through topics on the subject.

In my first 45 battles with the 120mm, I've managed a 58% Win Rate, 2241 WN8, 2239 DPG, and 1706 damage blocked per battle.  For me, I'd consider those pretty good stats, because I think I'm pretty awful at TD's, and don't really play tanks with a lot of armor either (Lights and Mediums are my go to).  Then again, I'm probably not playing it like a traditional TD.  I'm going to finish the grind to the T110E3 playing with the 155mm gun, and I'll be back to see how my stats have changed with the other gun, and an update on which I prefer.

Meanwhile, let me know what you think about this tank destroyer, and it's top two guns!

155, why? 400 alpha doesn't scare anyone and the enemies can play peek a boo and outtrade you.

BTW use gold often, if you bounce you are going to regret it.

Okay, I'm back with my update.

I finished my T95 grind last Friday, and it ended up being an absolute joy to play, in no small part due to the top gun.  Yes, this topic was a farce because there is no gun choice.  It is always the 155mm.

Here's a review of my statistics from when I did the early grind with the 120mm over my first 45 battles, and then my final stats, which include both the 120mm and 155mm battles. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way to separate them.  I played 198 battles in it in total.

  • 120mm only, 58% WR, 2241 WN8, 2239 DPG
  • Both Guns,   61% WR, 2679 WN8, 2554 DPG

As you can see, improvement across the board.  If I could look at the 150mm stats by themselves, it would obviously be even better.  I was clearly holding my self back using the 120mm.  I think the only benefit to it is that it's a bit of a surprise to people when your reload is more than twice as fast as they expect it to be, but otherwise, there's no contest.

Part of my dislike of TD's is that it's often a waiting game, but that's certainly not the case in the T95.  I was pushing heavy flanks right from the start.  Again, it's just the slowness of this tank that holds it back from being fun across the board.

I'll come back to it someday, but for now, I've moved the crew into my T110E3, and I'm looking forward to playing some more battles in that to see it it compares to it's predecessor.

Yes I'll be this guy.... Several patches back the top speed was 13 KPH. Pick the wrong direction at the start of the battle and never get in the fight!  HE with the 155 can be pretty effective  as well.

My issue is the garbage frontal armor. Huge weak spots. Got penned by a Obj 140 shooting regular AP.

This tank is beast if you can get at least 2 tanks supporting you while you reload... I highly advise platooning with 2 meds or a heavy as you need reliable protection while you reload if you can get good teammates your be a hard rock to push and people will think twice on fighting you.

T95 is a riot to play i imagine. I have fits when I see it on the battle field as I have RARELY penned it frontally and lose half my stuffing getting around to its soft sides and back...lol

If I'm not mistaken the front armor WAS nerfed sometime after 2012? ...or I'm missremembering and power creep just made the armor (and camo) less effective. The Zoom Turtle buff sure made me happy though, I do like to pick fights with that tank

Wiggle right up to the time a medium  tracks you, then they shoot your lower plate with premium ammo and you are done!

The T95 is definitely a love-hate relationship. :great:

The love has increased a bit for me, since WG effectively doubled it's top speed, lol. But that 155, yo!?? With HE, effectively you're a direct fire artillery platform that hits pretty consistently AND brutally, and the regular AP and APCR are pretty viscous themselves.

The T95 would be better if it actually had usable armor and tracks that could actually take a hit! But everyone just spams gold so what does armor mean? It means exactly D!CK!

Train everyone with repair skill, and mount a toolbox. Track repair time is fast enough that I have taught more than one medium about making assumptions about my ability to turn to engage after getting tracked.

I would love/hate to see how effective it would be with one of those improved toolboxes that cost bonds and give a 40% repair speed increase...

I run a spall liner to help protect from arty and HE plus small and large repair kits along with a crew that has respectable repair skills not 100% each but close.  You have to have good firefighting skills trained if you run two repair kits tho if not and you catch fire your done.

The T95 is love

As someone with over 2k battles in it (Got close to 3 marks of excellence, but currently sitting on 2) it's become less of a love/hate relationship and more of a "I feel like making people throw their monitor out of the window". As long as you can keep a decent distance between you and medium tanks, and know your angles, it's a monster to fight. Just remember, good t95 players know how to bounce shells off their butt. 155cm gun 100% of the time, and with Apcr rounds on the tank can pretty much pen every tank in the game without too much problem as well. All in all, a very solid tank
