I'm thinking of getting a Verizon 5 spot to play during the dead times in my day (blocked at work / no free internet) but they have a 5gb limit per month.  How much does WoT use?  I am assuming no voice chat.
Thanks
Tom

I doubt any one game would use anywhere near 5 gb of data transfer in a month. You should be fine so long as you don't jeopardize job security to playing it during work hours. You don't have a recession over there?

False. I play WAY too much with a 10gig cap, and most of it goes towards downloads.

For the OP, I'm not sure what the exact usage is, but you should be able to play just fine with a 5gig cap. Just don't download much.

That's the plan, it's just for playing on the road only.

Thanks,
Tom

Actual game play communications is in the range of a few Kilobits a second at most and 8 bits go into a byte so it takes 8 Kbits to make 1 KByte. So you'd have to play for a long long time to use up 5GB in a month. You should be fine as long as you make sure to disable the P2P torrenting of the launcher and download patches at home. Latency on the other hand... and packet loss which might make the game play impossible is purely dependent on your location with a mobile wifi.

5gigs per month is pretty wimpy.
Also! Most providers only count certain times of day toward your quota eg 8am to midnight usually.

WoT in my last test used about 50-75megs per hour roughly.

Games like Battlefield P4F use about 100.

A 5gig plan would give you about enough internet to play games for a month...
BUT... keep in mind updates will massively cut in on this.
And forget about watching online video.

An hour of video is about 500megs.

Regular browsing on low demand sites runs about 50-75 megs.

Then any downloading you do will be a lot too.  WoT updates tend to be 500-800 megs.

If you don't watch any videos.. You MIGHT be able to squeek by with a 5 gig plan.

If you want to be able to watch video sometime, hulu, youtube, NETFLIX is a big drain.
Then you should go with 20-50 gigs

Here's the breakdown
Video streaming by in large is the biggest drain on bandwidth. at 500-800 megs or more per hour
followed by music streaming 200ish megs per hour
pictures
heavy gaming (eg World of warcraft and minecraft each about 100-200 megs per hour)
Light gaming 50-100 megs per hour
webbrowsing 50-100 megs per hour
chat programs and messenger services 0-10 almost nothing.

Assuming WoT will not put more data than their requirement says, you'll take at most 20 kilobytes per second (downstream and upstream combined).
That's 70 Megabytes per hour at most.
That's 1.688 Gigabytes per 24 hours at most.

So you have at least 71 hours of WoT gameplay per month before reaching the throttling cap, not counting patches.
