ok its been years since i've driven the IS.... grabbed it to learn the new RU hvy lines... and wthis it terrible...

In most matchups I don't seem to bounce much, but with my 3 second aim time (slight exageration) and terribad gun handling ...   a snap shot usually misses by a mile and an aimed shot by a mile...   (maxed config)   should I be considering a lesser gun....

If memory serves wasn't this thing fairly dominant at its tier at  one point?

I am getting craptalk from teamates in game now because i have no f'n clue how to play it in most matchups... (as mid or low tier usually)

It almost seesm to need to be played as a TD... (oh and u should hear the team then...)  due to the long aim time...

It's not so bad if you run with the mediums when bottom tier.  I mean you aren't that fast, but you'll still get there.

As it power creeps more, our bold tanks start to power crawl.

it's not that it is crap, as it is more power creeped from all the new and over buffed tanks, it is quite long overdue for a buffing

Use the 100mm. Leave the 122mm to his manly brother the KV-3.

PD: The IS armor was always weak with some autobounce zones nothing else.

I play it with the 100mm gun. Faster reload and aim time plus better pen with premium ammo. It doesn't have the armor to do anything besides peek-o-boo. if you wait for the 122mm to aim fully, you likely will take at least one hit if playing it like a true hvy. When low tier it works good hanging out with the mediums in a support role.

I loved the IS with 122mm! Your side armor is decent and you can drop high alpha bombs on softer targets. I'd recommend brawling mediums where possible. Make it a close range fight, and you'll beat any tier 7 med in a 1v1 and most tier 8 meds will pause and think twice before trading shots with you.

Gun handling isn't that bad. (To be fair, I used a 5 perk female crew, vstab, and GLD).

Too funny!  I was about to Necro an old thread about the IS using the 122 mm.

Anyways right now I am grinding out the IS for fun.  For about forty matches I used the 100 mm and did very well in this tank.  My win rate was at 70%.  For me that is amazing.  So, then I said let’s upgrade to the 122 mm D-25T.  I also own the IS-2 Berlin so I know what to expect.

Leave it to Wargaming, I then go 2-20.  After quitting WoT for a week in a fit of rage I am using the 100 mm again.  Support the mediums.  It’s a more enjoyable grind but facing Tier IX will hurt.

The problem I saw last week was that I kept shooting curve rounds and missing the lower plate.  Even at a semi close distance.  The same thing was happening in my IS-2.  Maybe it was just a very bad session but this way I will not crush my monitor!

I finally finished the IS grind to the IS-M.  I did much better with the 100mm in the end.  It was still frustrating to find yourself in low tier matches, I always find myself at a loss in what to do in a low tier heavy...

I did all my Initial Grind with the 122mm ever since the KV85 and now have my IS7...       When they added the New Line, I started the Grind up again and as of the other week went to the 100mm....          I also have the IS2B, so One with the 100mm and One with the 122 seemed Fair, gives you a Choice of Guns with all the Garage Hokey Pokey.....

It does work Well, better than it ever did in the Past....

So for now it Stays, but the IS-M, that's not gonna Play Out....      I like the 705's and this is Neither of them, Period...

Load gold and play with the meds or as a secondline support tank whenever you're bottom tier. Whenever you're top tier then play as more of a heavy.

IS is still a good tank but its far from bad.
