I had a bad time on chiri and STA1. Is STB 1 good? I already have the soviet mediuns.

Thx

It's an acquired taste.

STB 1 is a fun tank. Great mobility and gun depression. Couple that with great DPM it is not a bad tank, but you will notice that it lacks in the accuracy department. It is a very derpy gun at distance... which is not good, plus the turret armor is very MEH.

Get it if you want but I would recommend grinding to the 430U since it is a boss.

Its pretty much irrelevant, along with the AMX 30B, Leo 1 and Cent AX.

It looks more playable than Type 61; I've been grinding for a year and still over 100K away from STD-1.  Probably least enjoyable tank to play in tier 9.  I made some progress past few months, using following trick:

Step 1: Drink sake

Step 2: Play Defender to develop sense of invincibility

Step 3: Drink more sake

Repeat 1-3 till the large bottle is empty, then play Type 61

If you are under age, well, wait till you can drink legally before grinding this line past tier 8.

not sure, still working for it. on the STA-1 right now and almost to the type 61. i know it won't be the best medium tank out there, probably not even close. but looking over it and games played it looks like it will be kind of a 1 trick pony where you use the gun depression to get your chances of bouncing. the use your DPM to get shots down range quick.  to be fair though that's pretty much the entire jap medium line, semi-fast tanks with no armor and decent guns.

for competitive play, I'd agree.

it, and those however as casual, pubbing tanks have their moments, the problem is just that most of the time, on flat funnel maps that those moments aren't super enjoyable.

I didn't enjoy the STB-1 which is a shame because I think it looks awesome & I recruited a full female crew for it. The derp-cannon accuracy & aim time plus poor turret armor makes leveraging the 10 degrees of gun depression difficult compared to the Fatton (for instance).

High skill players can do very well in it...obviously.

If you play to the strengths of the tank, any tank, you'll have to a blast in it. I loved my type 61 but haven't yet picked up the STB s
But it's unlocked

no it got power creeped by russian meds.  rarely see em played cuz the gun handling so poor, most of shots hit dirt or sky.  dont grind jap med line its crap.  use to be good now its power creeped bad.

Was better before the HD armor changes because it lost some armor on the sides and rear of the turret. What it lost on the sides and rear they put it all on the front of the turret while still ignoring its weak gun mantlet. Now for a tank that excels at hill poking that was a stupid change imo given how they completely ignored buffing the gun mantlet while nerfing the side armor on the turret.

Overall the STB-1 was and still is a fun tank but these days there are just much better alternatives like the Cent AX and the M48 Patton.

The type 61 is a great second line tank, yeah it's paper, but it's pretty tiny for a t9 tank.

I think even in pubs they are so situational they're just not worth it.

The M48 does everything(except move) better then the other NATO 105 mediums. Sure the 30b and STB have better DPM but you can't really use it since they're either squishy or have derpy guns

The M60 is almost as quick as the 30B Leo, AX, and STB but has way better gun handling and excellent gun handling so that you can actually fully utilize the DPM.

The T95E6 just makes the NATO 105 DPM tanks irrelevant in its current state. It has mobility, HP, a sorta ok turret, good gund handling and stupid high dpm.

Only grind if you got a good budget for booze and pharmaceuticals as the grind is soul crushing and rage inducing, on paper they should be doing better but this line needs a lot of work.

It's paper, it's slow and gun is ..meh.  I finished Leo and AMX prototypes, they were enjoyable to play at tier 9.  This requires serious buzz to play.

I have it and think it’s fine. It can play the ridge game in Live Oaks by the train trestle really well. But it’s also my only Tier X medium so I wouldn’t consider my opinion authoritative.

It will make you mad at the misses.  Played a battle today.  Me in my progetto 45 while a purple dude had his stb1 in a random. We both stopped side by side to shoot a spotted bc12t from about 430 or so meters.  He got dirt twice while I penned 3.

I think I heard him scream through my monitor.

It's my most played tank, and if you use it to its strengths it's still a very good tank, unfortunately the power creep is starting to affect it and it's not quite the tank it used to be. If you have improved equipment to spare then put a improved rammer and vstab on it, makes it a God on hills. Unfortunately as well the map meta makes it somewhat situational. I'd say grind it out and play it for yourself, theres a chance it could get buffed in the future
