Swapping out router finally did it for me.  Did not experience any lag spikes since.  Used to have multiple lag spikes each game, it was often causing me to lose my tank in stupid ways (including drowning), quite frustrating at times.

I think my virus software jumps in once in awhile. Usually just a second and annoying and occasionally deadly.

Pingplotter will tell you if the lost packets start in your house - that is how you troubleshoot lag problems.

Was using Arris cable modem with build in router.  Switched to Netgear Nighthawk.

I have used pingplotter quite a few times trying to troubleshoot the problem.  It was not showing lost packets in my house.  I have also invited the ISP guys over to check their hardware, and they assured me that everything works perfectly.  I was pretty sure that the router was fine after all that, and was blaming WG server for the spikes.  Then my relative was moving and he was giving stuff away, so I was given that router and told it was really good, so I grabbed it - and no more lag spikes to my surprise.
