Howdy Boom Jockies!

World of Tanks Academy will be shutting down on 31Aug18. If you or someone you know would like a free M22 Locust click on the gear in the upper left hand corner of the screen and click the "Enter Bootcamp," option.

More information on this can be found HERE.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm sad you guys are closing this down before you fully fleshed it out. it's sad because it could have been quite useful and rewarding to use it.

please just give it another chance and more work

Why is it closing?  Isn't this useful for new players?  Is there an alternative now?

Do we get anything for completing it (gold, credits?) if we already own a Locust?

I've tried to do the academy for the locust/credits and it always bugs out on me. Good riddance.

Blitz just overhauled their tiers I-IV, I wonder if something similar is planned here?

We where promised 3 garage slots if we completed the Officer's training but was never given the chance to do that.... Just one more broken promise from WOT they say something and hope you forget about it later. I guess they feel the players are idiots and not smart enough to remember things.

Hey KRZYBoop,

I've been waiting for the academy page to load for almost an hour, and it just sits there :(

Is it overloaded, or what?

I could really use the Locust too

The previous team was spearheading this initiative but there was no roadmap to move it to where it needed to be as a teaching tool. The best way to teach players WOT is to have these mechanisms in-game and there is some work being done beyond bootcamp to facilitate this. Stay tuned!

Completed the videos months ago but never got the locust - sent an inquiry to WG and was simply told it’s on the way. Will all of these actually be delivered?

Thanks Ratbat.  I've tried to let the folks know this is a positive move but the skepticism is strong with many...

and THANK YOU for letting us know about your plans in advance.  I take your resurgence here in PC and all the attempts at communication with us as positive signs for the future.  Keep up the good work!  :great:

I have an M22 on my NA Account, but I would like one on my EU as well.....        Seems when I try to get in, it Prioritizes my NA Login....       Either I am missing something, or it's just not Available there....

I mean tankrewards will probably follow. Hasn't been an event on there since new years.

A huge problem with the game, the features that best help players are footnotes.  Little to no effort to help players understand and come to grips with the mountain of nuances requires to not be food for someone else.  Give them as much of a hand as you can.  Encourage learning, make those avenues of assistance a focal point.

WarGaming has failed to do this again and again and again.

Sir, the best way to teach new players is to;

  1. put them in the meat grinder and let 25k game players chew them to bits. Sink or swim as it were...
  2. make Province the only map they will see until tier 4
  3. offer new players a Lowe mega-bundle for $99 USD and convince them it's the only way out of the meat grinder

P.S.

WOT Academy and Tank Rewards, both good ideas but never fully realized. Sorry to see them go, but I'm excited to see what is planned next.

WarGaming has failed to do this again and again and again.

The best possible scenario is the addition of situational PvE where players are tasked to solve a specific problem. I'm old school Nintendo and they nail game mechanics reinforcement without you even realizing you are being taught ( example: https://www.youtube....h?v=ZH2wGpEZVgE). Something like this would require dev work but i'm looking at the tools we have in publishing to also facilitate teaching and reinforcement in-game. To learn a new behavior and make it stick you need realtime feedback and reinforcement. You did a thing and because of the thing here is the appropriate reward. We're still at the concept phase of examining what we can do with in-game tools but the point is to put all the teaching in-game as much as possible and augment with cool tutorials we produce internally or through contributors and other resources (Youtube vids for example) that we can highlight.

Definitely on the right track here.  Make all new players face the Leviathan.  Survive that monster and they'll go far in this game...

PS - I really enjoyed these past Halloween shenanigans.  I hope something similar awaits us this year
