Hey Folks,

You've probably heard "WGC" or "Wargaming Game Center" mentioned before at one point or another. It originally came out for ships and planes, supported all our games, and allowed you to use a single login/launcher to play all your favorite Wargaming Titles.

Well, our WGC team has been hard at work making improvements to the launcher, so we wanted to get everyone acquainted (or re-acquainted) with the Wargaming Game Center!

It includes a bunch of cool features, which you can check out by reading the article on our news portal here.

Hopefully it's something we don't have to use.  Don't fix what isn't broken.

Just received an email that the WGC is being transitioned in WOWS.  In 1 - 2 months players will have to be switched over without a choice.  So it's a foregone conclusion that it will happen for WOT in the near future.  :(

Piss. I don't like these automatic launchers. They hog computer memory in the background while the game is running without notice and they're piss ugly to look at.

Making a real fricken dumb decision here. ESPECIALLY with forcing it on warships. Get the hell outta here with that dumb bullfeces. Stupid. Dumb. Wasting time on something that should be spent on, I dunno, actually balancing the game.

Tried it once and uninstalled it. It just chews up memory.

I am currently trying it out to see if it is as bad as everyone says it is.

tldr

If the current system is working for you don't bother with game center until you have to.

The install process of WGC is pretty easy and straight forward, but that is all the praise I can really give it.

here are just some of the problems I am having with it

  1. Its been about 5 hours and its still attempting to update world of tanks It took around 7 hours to install a WoT update
  2. Cannot launch warships from WGC. I have to use the executable directly
  3. If I launch a game, updates that were running stop
  4. It doesn't recognize WoT CT installs so I cannot "import" it
  5. It has crash twice since I installed it
  6. Its a 32-bit application (not really a problem, I just don't know why there are not 64-bit executables for this game yet)
  7. (EDIT) It adds game shortcuts to your desktop

As far as system resources, having WGC running has spawned 4 processes (an error reporter, the client, a web renderer, and an updater). All the processes are sitting around 600MB of system memory usage, but I figured that high usage amount is because of it attempting to update WoT(still). As far as the claims that it makes "your system unusable", I think they are exaggerated a bit. That said I don't exactly have a potato (Intel Core i7 3930k with 32GB of DDR3) so ymmv.

I tried the Game Center before, takes up tons of memory and took forever to update, really hope WOT won't be using this.

Unless the client no longer uses torrent protocols to download updates, this will be a disaster for anybody who's on an ISP that uses sandvine traffic throttling.

For years Time Warner Cable did that, and it made World of Warplanes completely unplayable for me because the lag made it impossible to even get past the tutorial. I uninstalled after a couple hours and gave up the game center entirely.

I'm guessing Wargaming has never heard of KISS.....Keep it Simple Stupid !

Why invest all of the development time for something that does nothing to help the game ?  Another layer of code to cause problems,  take up computing resources, bandwidth, and, most importantly,   probably adds a HUGE amount of frustration to the player base.

Stupid, stupid, stupid....did I say stupid ?

When will WOT pull their cranium from their 4th point of contact and STOP "FIXING" something that isn't broken and ignoring that which IS broken. There are literally hundreds of threads on the forum indicating things that ARE broken like MM and tanks that are either nerfed to uselessness or OP to obvious extremes. I'm beginning to think this is a company staffed completely by millenials who are in serious need of cry closets.

To stop the memory usage you can close it after game launch.  I know it's a pain in the butt extra step.

Oh yay, 200MB+ of bloatware to replace the already bloated, mostly unnecessary launcher we already have(thanks to a desktop shortcut to worldoftanks.exe, I only have to run it after patches). The last time I had that POS software installed I had to completely uninstall and re-install my game to get rid of the [edited]thing. Across 3 computers I've experienced random crashing on two of them, one immediately upon windows loading. I don't even understand why the damned thing needs to run in the background, most of the idiots that could use an auto-updater don't have computers beefy enough to keep this trash running in the background all the time. Seriously, it's an updater, why does it need to be over 200MB? uTorrent is less than 1MB, and sure has a helluva lot more features and capabilities than this over-glorified update downloader.

It is this POS software is the reason I do not play World of Airplanes.

I installed it once with the Total War Arena test. It blocked my computer's access to the internet, I spent the rest of the rest of the day on my laptop looking for solutions because simply uninstalling the thing didn't solve the problem.

I have no interest in going near the WGC ever again.

When you install the game center and close it with the X in the top right, it never actually closes.  It just minimizes.  There is no option to actually close it.  I guess that is working as intended?

If you alt-click (right click) on the system tray icon and select exit from that menu WGC does terminate.

Thanks Capt. Obvious.  I already knew that.  My point was the minimize button and close button do the same thing.  You can't close the game center without putting extra effort into closing it.  That's either really poor programming or Wargaming wanting players to never close the game center.  There should be an option to have the close button actually close it.

Why program something that is not needed and adds nothing of benefit to the game? Answer, because then they can claim they are making improvements without really doing anything.
