I was babysitting my brother's cats this week while his family was on vacation and one of them broke my headset. it grabbed the cord and tried to pull it off its hook, the cord was chewed and the headband was broken. I repaired the cord and epoxied the top band. it's working for now, but I'm in the market for a new one. The old one was a Plantronics Gamescom 780 which I was quite happy with, but it's obsolete now.

I'm looking to spend $100 or less, what do y'all recommend?

Using a HyperX Cloud II for about 8 months now. Good sound, comfortable but the muffs could be a little bigger. Was under $100 delivered from amazon.

Got Audio Technica refurbished headphones for just over $100 on Amazon...

The sheepskin ear pads put them closer to $130... ;)

All super comfy with great sound reproduction... :harp:

I've used the HyperX Cloud units......they have great sound, good value.  Google some reviews......generally always rates up there!   I had the unit with the virtual 7.1...…..the cable broke at the dongle because my dog visited me at my computer and yanked the cable one too many times...….so upgraded to the SteelSeries 7 wireless subsequently.  They are great too if you want to go wireless.  If you're cool with a cable, can't beat the HyperX line.

My hyper x cloud lasted 3 years before I broke them  totally my fault.  I bought another set I cannot tell you enough, how great they are compared to the cheap stuff. There are better headphones, but most are over 190 easily. Stay away from Turtle. They sound great but fall apart in less than six months of daily use.

Once you buy a better set you will truly understand how poorly you treated your ears.

For full sound I use Ps4 Gold edition wireless. Better all around sound with great low end which is great for tanking.  $99 before tax.

In set mic so no external one to deal with.

When I want something a little lighter on my ears I have a Treblab xr100 set, wireless Bluetooth earbuds.

About $30 from Amazon.

You can pick up a Sades on Amazon for real cheap and they are good also.  Most are around $30 or so.

+1 to this. I upgraded from a $70 Turtle Beach headset to this $25 Sades because my roomate liked his and has been using that set for 3+ years now. Lasted twice as long as the Turtles and still going strong. Comfortable, good sound quality, mic is decent and stores conveniently. You'll have to spend $200 to get a set that's 10% better.

Honestly, I like the Sades almost as much as my $200 Beats headphones.

I have used this head set myself for the past year, I have really enjoyed them so far.

i have the razer Black Shark headset, best sound yet. comfortable, removable mic boom, i've had them 2 years and no problems. in most instances you get what you pay for.

This is under the assumption that my ears will notice the difference.   Maybe a few to many Pink Floyd, Rush, and other rock concerts back in the day leave my ears ....  a bit less than stellar in terms of perception of acoustics.

If you will only be using it for gaming, then buy a cheap one but has a decent audio output.

I am still using a Logitech G930 that I purchased for $79.93 during the sale period last November 2015. If you can find a brand new one for that low price, then go for it. Otherwise, the above mentioned brands like Sades will do.
