I originally went down this line as an alternate way to get to the 430 before WG changed it (didn't want to deal with the T-43). However that's no longer an option and I'm not sure about the K-91 at the end of the line (and these days I'm more likely just to stay at tier 7 anyway).

So my question is are the A-43 and A-44 worth playing?

or should I buy back the T-34-85 and get working towards the T-43?

(why are the mid tiers such a mess?)

Play the A43 for fun, don't buy the A44, and grind the T34-85

I found the A-43 lots of fun - although it does have crap gun depression. The A-44 however? Not fun for me. Maybe I will grab the 416 some day on sale, but at best I would say that line is for specialists only now. But that said, the A-43 is still a fun Soviet Cromwell like tank that adds the ability to have crazy bounces from actual armor.

I just recently finished grinding the A-44 a week ago. Fantastic vehicle, 300 alpha on a tier 7 medium is great.

The aim time is long, poor view range, not as mobile as other vehicles, and pen is only 147.

But the accuracy is good if you let it aim, you’re fast enough to flank heavies, the armor will protect you from tier 5/6 mediums, and 147 is plenty at tier 7, as long as you know what you’re doing.

I finished the A-44 grind in 48 battles. At the end I had a 62.5% Win Ratio and a WN8 of 2792. A very enjoyable tank, I also only play solo, so I didn’t platoon to inflate those stats. Rarely had to fire premium even when bottom tier, just make sure you run a large repair kit.

The A43 with the 57 and APCR is a riot. Costs a lot to run though. On the move accuracy is way better than a Crommy. Top speed is lower but its mobility is much better for the close in swarm.

A44 is a challenge for average and below players. You have to have map knowledge to know where you can maximize your advantages of alpha and minimize your lack of depression and long aim time.

I had the same hesitation but finally chose the T-43 way. The T-44 isn’t a beast?

T-44 is a quite good tank - when elite. But there is a long grind to upgrade the gun above the 85mm that was great at tier 6 and decent at 7. But especially after some buffs it got in the last year or so, the only reason I don't play my T-44 is because I have the even better T-44-100.

The A-44 is one of the hidden gems in this game. Once fully researched that gun will feck things up, your camo makes you a semi-scout and the weight and speed makes the A-44 the perfect rammer.
