I thinks there is a bug with the Bishop the view range doesn't seem to change from original value of 279 even with binoculars and coated optics i checked by going to comparison as well usually you would see this value go up in green nothing changed stays the same

Have you tried it in game?  Does your viewing circle increase in size when the binocs engage?

I am guuuuueessing this is a UI bug.  Hopefully.

What's even worse is when you need binocs and optics on the Bishop.  If you have to spot for yourself, bad things are going to happen. (Not to say that the tomatoes on my team haven't forced me to spot for myself in a Bishop.  You just hope it doesn't happen often.)

Who really cares what the view range is on arty. If you actually use that equipment in battle, wow not good.

I just got the veiw range on the Bishop to 352. That is with BIA crew, binocs, coated optics, Recon, situational awareness.

fell in love with the bishop the first game I played in it (before all the FV304 hype I might add).

That first game, I was on Himmelsdorf and thought... well [edited], this will be useless as usual for arty.

Then I realized I could arc shells over the buildings if I positioned right and hit people in spots they thought were immune from arty.

Got called a hacker... laughed my [edited]off and never looked back. I will never sell the 304 and the bishop so long as they keep their arc, it's just too much fun.

Basically, as others have said (to answer your question more directly) the bishop (and the fv304) is not your standard arty. You hide in plain sight, just behind your friendly lines... and you rain unholy death upon those stupid enough to sit still, or those unfortunate enough to be so large that you can't possibly miss (hehe.. TOG).

Your targets also change a bit in the FV/Bishop. Heavies are great targets, but it will take awhile to whittle em down with your (relatively) weak shells.

Instead, I like to go for mediums and TDs that are getting too cocky. Mediums that think they're safe behind that rock... welp, suck 450 HE damage and think again.
