Only got to play I think 14 matches due to the time frame doesn’t line up with my job which sucks.... I hate missing out on camos... yes all I wanted was the camos don’t care about the ranks

I hated it.

Firstly, the start time was not inconvenient for me, so I could only play for a few hours at the weekend. Then when I did play, I was waiting many minutes each time to get into a game. Then in the 4-5 games that I playing, my teams all just hung back, just caring about damage farming more than attempting to play as a team. If I thought randoms was bad sometimes, this felt much worse. I just stopped playing after those 4-5 games.

Tried a few ranked games, still mostly players not playing for the win and immediately going into "GOTTA SECURE MY RANK" mode.

I think I made it to 5 or so?  Not interested in a ranked mode if it'll be a bunch of pubbies doing what pubbies do (not playing for wins)

Basically played it for a session one night just to see what it was about.

The trouble is that even supposing that chevrons were only given to the winning team, then we'd have a new problem of how to get 15 uncoordinated pubbies with no voice comms to cooperate for the win. You already know what they'll do- the same thing they already do, just hang back and wait for the enemy to do something convenient. If the team isn't coordinated, then passive play will always be easier and less risky than active play.

A lack of incentive to win was never the problem, the problem is that the sort of active and dynamic gameplay that we want to see only works when the team allows it to work. So, how do we foster an environment with more communication and coordination? The obvious answer would be to use smaller team sizes and to integrate voice comms. Perhaps even run ranked as a series of tournament-style 5v5, 3v3, or 1v1 matches. Alternatively, give up entirely on the pretense of teamwork and let it be an individualist's hangout.

I enjoyed ranked a lot actually. I played nearly all of my 80ish ranked battles in my m45 patton which for ranked was stellar. the gun handling and decent armour was key for me in ranked. It was slightly different from public battles which was expected. Russian mediums are to good of all around tanks, they could do more damage then my t110e5 so i barely play that tank anymore (that tank needs a less obvious commanders hatch and a slightly stronger gun whether its slightly higher damage per shot or more pen.) I was able to shot less then 20 gold rounds all of ranked and still achieve rank 11 and get into silver league. I'd recommend to players who struggled with ranked to play in order to be most effective to your team or in some cases do something slightly different, go on a different route and try to flank. Still play smart no need to spam gold. Work as a team dont go by yourself. Try to coordinate with one or two other teammates. Take a active role. I would assume that getting out of the lower ranks got away from the damage farming, that's just what I saw.

Uh, I don't have any Tier X tanks. I can't afford to pay for the privilege of buying tanks that expensive only to have to shovel actual money into them to keep them running. But beyond the economy still not getting fixed so F2P folks might actually be able to play Ranked Battles at some point, I do wonder about the statistics of how much Gold Ammo was, because I doubt it was the mythical "2%" WG has claimed it is in the past.

If someone can send me a messenger pigeon to my Yamato when the economy gets fixed, that'd be great. Till then, I got some Clan Battles to fight over there.

Actually, once you get to rank 15, people do a surprising amount of coordination and I'm glad I witnessed it. More often than not, I would suggest for a push on a flank and others would join in and agree. We would make the push and usually win, meaning that everyone won. Yes, retaining a chev is considered a win in my book... losing is way less beneficial considering that you can reasonably only try to get the top 5 (retain) and you aren't ever certain of being number 1 (that is unless you have 2-3 more kills than anyone else and in a heavy-therefore in the fight and get a large exp bonus)

I would suggest that distance traveled (which is a metric you get at the end of each match) be incorporated in a big way into the final XP calculation. It is not fair to those players taking risks and trying to actively spot and provide lights to the team to not be recognized for the effort and risk taken. This would penalize those only holding back on base.

I feel it is really discouraging to be the one player really trying to win the game by spotting and advancing and have the majority of players just waiting on the redline trying to snipe and hoping to make it into the top 5 losers.

I know you can adjust the XP formula to make distance a big factor in the XP calculation. Of course, only if the distance traveled is meaningful (meaning the player also gets respectable assisted damage, dealt damage, kills, etc), so we don't have only suicide scouts getting XP just by running fast and then having a meaningless death.

I only got to play in a few Ranked Battles, because I generally can only play between 11PM-2AM PST. Disappointing because I did like the Ranked Battles, but I only got to the first rank.

Can we get better prizes for achieving rank 15? Granted I didn't get past rank 7, but it would be nice if either bonds could buy better prizes (reward tanks... Hint hint), or if there were reward tanks or the opportunity to buy them with bonds allocated to ranked battle players who achieved rank 15 a specific number of times (see world of warships model). I probably would have been more keen on playing if there was more incentive to do so.

Statistically, and assuming a 50 % chance of a win and a 70 % chance of being top 10, reaching anything above rank 5 was impossible.  You stood a better chance of catching Polio.

This being the case, hearty congratulations to those sufficiently skilled to overcome such staggering odds.

But the mode is bad.  Very bad.  It should not be repeated.

And if it is, the Perverse Incentives for being the Best Loser should be deleted.

Just wondering, have they started giving out the rewards yet? It's been almost two weeks.

YMMV, but I read "within two weeks" as "no later than 14 days from now".
