For anyone interested, I quite enjoy this tank. It has a great credit multiplier and good standard ammo and accuracy to hit weak spots, so I end up turning a pretty good profit in this tank most of the time. The armor is trollish and can work on occasion, but you shouldn't rely on it. I didn't like the VK45 at first but it's really really grown on me.. I 2-marked it. If tier 8 MM is getting you down, this is a suitable alternative to Lowe or Mauerbrecher crew training.

I second this.  I got mine before the buff to the Lowe.  It has trained 3 or 4  crews quite nicely and made me some clams.  Just have to bait them into shooting at your hull and good things can happen.

VK4503 basics

Personal ranking out of a 1-6 rating: 3 (good/ok)

Pros:

Very good accuracy and gun handling. This this tank can make shots that have no right to connect, connect and penetrate.

Pretty mobile for a tier 7 heavy, and can flex when needed.

Cons:

Armor. Tier 5s have no problem penetrating this thing frontally.

Lowish DPM paired with 240 alpha means its unsuited for trading

It's a Tiger.

It's a good supporting tier 7 heavy. Its where the tiger 2 should be on the MM tree. This vehicle can not frontline a push, but it can support one from the second line. it can take two 750 alpha shots, so when it absolutely has to take a hit, it can.

I also think this is a good tank, but don't play it like a normal heavy. Its good in a support role behind the actual heavies. Sometimes you can go with the meds, and don't feel bad sniping because the gun is amazing (just don't snipe all game).

Totally agree. I generally use equipment on hvys that improve gun performance, but on this one I use optics. The gun handling is already excellent, you have no need for a gld, and that already good vr plus optics helps your team and helps you rake in credits.

It's a good tank. Ironic though that when it came out people were criticizing it for being tier 7, "the worst tier to play". How times have changed.

Very Good Tank, fits right in with the rest of the Tigers....     It's a Gun before Armor Tank....      I like mine alot, this and my Lowe are the 2 Main Heavy Trainers in my German Tree....

Basically Tiger I with Tiger II Slopes, so if you know how to Angle and Move, you'll Bounce alotta Stuff....      And Yes, the Gun really IS that Accurate....      I've pulled some Amazing shots on Live Oaks, at Range and Under the Train, from ACROSS the Lake with it...      Pixel Point Accuracy is very Fitting.....

I would say it sucks.

It has good track traverse, speed, terrain resists for a heavy - but real bad HP/T. For some reason it has the same 700H/P engine Pak 8.8 Jagtiger gets, but it adds 200 kg. Reason? WG typo? Frontal engine module cripples you easy too

Bad DPM, bad DPM on a heavy that shoots for low 240 dmg. DPM needs to be buffed like brother Tier 7 prem coming out,  the VK

Extremely bad front turret shield above the gun. The slanted roof can get over match, by a measly 76mm gun found on a simple tier 5. Any basic tier 5, can void any armour there is on this tank, and shoot the slanted roof. The tank cannot really hide it at all, and you take an over match full dmg mechanic hit. Not even talking about strong guns....a 76mm does it.

I think the VK4503 is a pathetic PoS and Im sorry I ever bought it.

I am not exactly new to heavies and I dont think I have ever owned another heavy tank in this game that has gone as many matches as this one and never bounced a shot. Everything that hits it pens, even tier 5's. And if your hit your guaranteed to take ammo rack damage.
