Hopefully these vehicles are introduced as their own class and take on the dedicated scouting role. There's not much to differentiate between mediums and lights right now anyways, so it makes sense to me to embrace that ambiguity. Make it so medium tanks and light tanks have a relationship similar (in regards to ships) to heavy cruisers and light cruisers. Wheeled vehicles (should just be called Armored Cars in my opinion) should then take on the roles light tanks used to have but couldn't quite fit into.

I have a post over here where I discuss wheeled vehicles in more detail.

As for some questions that can hopefully be answered:

  • Will armored cars potentially roll over if they're immobilized at high speeds?
  • Will we get a full line of armored cars for France? I don't see why we shouldn't.
  • How might a "siege mode" be incorporated for use with armored cars?
  • Can we expect more nations to be implemented at the same time as the French?
  • A vehicle with 8 wheels could probably keep driving with one disabled, where a vehicle with 4 wheels likely wouldn't be able to. Will the number of wheels your vehicle has decide how many can be destroyed before the vehicle is immobilized?
  • Might we see wheel-cum-track designs being able to switch between wheels and tracks?

It will probably start around tier 5. Branch off from, possibly, the current light line. The armoured cars in the early 30's were pretty much a machine gun on a car.

The wheeled "seige" will be allowing you to raise or lower the middle tires. Increasing turning when up and traction when down.

More nations - if implemented, yes. French lights are the test bed. They will be first.

They can't get tracked like a tracked tank does. It will lower the speed. More tires taken out, the slower it is.

We will get more information as it gets closer to testing. It sounds like an internal or sandbox test.

Such a breath of fresh air. Would really enjoy playing these. What about newer tanks? After all, this game is called " World of Tanks." Could enjoy playing countries involved with their unique styles of play. Great job coming out with new content.

OMG yes armored cars!

Are they going to be a new special class or act like LT?

I'm still waiting for the FV scorpion British LT line. I'm waiting for that Scimitar LT prototype to be in game. 30mm Rarden cannon was way before 1970. You can't say no to it.

This also means Fox scout car will be added in the game right?

Quote: "Development of the Fox began in 1965 and the following year the Daimler company of Coventry, which was building the Ferret scout car at the time, was awarded a contract to build 15 prototype vehicles. The first was completed in November 1967 and the last in April 1969. User trials began in 1968 and the first official announcement concerning the Fox was made in October 1969. "

I want to 30mm those autoloader tanks such as Batchats!

Video was incomplete. It needed to mention something about the return of Front Line.

If armored cars are coming to the game, then halftracks can be added too such as the M3 75mm Gun Motor Carriage (Tier 3 or Tier 4 Tank Destroyer) for example...

I wonder if the game physics, maps and rendering can support vehicles going over 100KM/H?  Will we have some of the FPS issues that seemed to happen in Frontlines?  These armored cars might be able to do some serious deep scouting, radio operators might be worth a med pack now :)

How effective were they vs. tanks in real battles? I mean a splash of HE and they would be IMMOBILIZED! CREW DEAD! So like really?

Now, just put it to you this way...In Real Life, wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicles (W-AFV) are quite common.  They are cheap to build, maintain, and operate.  The generally move faster, and and because they are generally lighter are moved around by transportation quite easily and moved by air and ship.  Canada, France, and South Africa heavily invested in W-AFVs.

The Upside is they are fast on the road, cheap, easy to retreat after damage that would immobilize a tracked vehicle and light.
The Downside they are light (less ability to carry armor), they carry lighter guns (weight again), and are a bit more terrain sensitive (Siege mode could also reflect a tire inflation system).

On the plus side there was a large investment in Armored Cars and other W-AFVs.

The US Army had the M8 Greyhound, but the us also built the T17 Staghound, there are many prototype W-AFVs and one of the more popular 60's era was the Cadillac-gage V-100 and V-150 family.  Plus there was the XM800-W prototype.

The British Army had Dialmer Armored Cars (No the Dingo Scout Car), AEC had a series of Armored Cars, and there were others, include WW1 series Rolls Royce Armored Cars.

Germany had a family of 4x4, 6x6, and two of 8x8 Armored Cars (4 Rad, 6 Rad, and 8 Rad respectively).

France was known for it's armored cars.

The Soviets also made Armored Cars (The BA Series) plus Wheeled APCs (BTRs)

So there is a lot to mine here.  I just hope they don't make them OP and make them what they were "Glass Cannons"

Those should have been in game since the release as TD.
