Tankers!

For this week's edition of Map Mondays, we're gonna mix things up a bit and hold another Map Guide contest!
Update 1.1 Introduced two beautiful new maps to World of Tanks: Studzianki and Minsk.

The rules of this contest are as follows: Players will have 1 week to create a Map Guide for one of the new maps: Studzianki or Minsk. The contest will be divided into two categories, and the top 3 guides for each map will be selected as winners. Choose wisely, because you can only submit a guide for one of them! (If you want, you can make map guides for both but you must specify which one you want considered for prizing.)

Please post a new topic in the Game Guides and Tutorials subforum with "Map Mondays Contest: Minsk" or "Map Mondays Contest: Studzianki" in the subject line.

Please post a link to your thread, in this thread, below.

The map guide must be in written format - video guides or narrated replays will not be accepted as submissions

Guides will be scored on presentation as well as how informative their content is. An example of what we're looking for in terms of quality would be my Map Mondays guides (all of which can be accessed by clicking this hyperlink)

Guides will be scored by WGA Staff, and winners will be announced/Published within 3 days of contest end. Prizes will be paid out within 7 days of contest end.

All Submissions for STUDZIANKI due by 00:00 PT on Monday, 9/10! - submissions after this time will not be considered for this map.

All Submissions for MINSK due by 00:00 PT on Monday, 9/17! - submissions after this time will not be considered for this map.

Prizing:
There will be 1 Winner and 1 Runner-Up selected for each Map, for a total of 4 Contestants receiving prizing.
WGA May choose to reduce or increase the number of winners at their discretion based on participation.

Winner (1 for each Map, total of 2 winners):
50TP Prototyp with Winged Hussar Style + Garage Slot

Large-Caliber Tank Gun Rammer

Vertical Stabilizer Mk 2

Coated Optics

Runner-Up (1 for each map, total of 2 Runners-up):

For those who wish to try for this but don't know where to get the minimap here are the files

Spoiler

I'm giving you guys these because neither StratSketch or MapTactic have Studjianki or Minsk as maps you can create tactics on yet.

Hard to provide a Minsk map guide, when I've never seen it in the 144 battles I've played since the maps were released.

That's a bit odd. Well, for what it's worth, Minsk and Studzianki are both selectable options in training rooms.

I finally got Minsk on my 175th battle since the map was released, and I was in an arty of all things! :(

Here's my submission to the contest! A very thorough and in-depth guide to Studzianki [Hyperlinked here]. This took a lot of time, and effort to produce. Lots of replays, screenshots, editing and writing. I tried to make sure that it's useful to players of all skill levels and playstyles. I highly recommend giving it a read! :P

Looks like we have a winner! By default, unfortunately, but that is not to say it isn't a very, very quality guide!

With this in mind, I am extending the deadline for the Studzianki Guide contest until next Monday. Currently we've only received one submission so even if your guide is extremely basic, you'll end up with the runner-up prize if no one else submits a guide for Studzianki!

Submissions for Studzianki Runner-Up prize and Minsk Final/Runner-Up are due by Midnight next Monday!

lol, I asked scorp if he was making one for Studzianki since competing with him at what he's best at is kinda dumb

Exactly what I'm doing, it's seriously taking me hours to get even a few parts done.

Here's the pic that took the longest thus far, it took so long because I wanted to see how it'd look if I only had the blue on the ground and not covering any trees/benches/signs.

looks like my computer resolution is a tad bit high, resizing it down just makes the image blurry. Oh well, nothing I can do about that now

Well, since there's not many entries, I'll do some simple guides.

Minsk

Minsk is a 3-corridor map, and plays somewhat similarly to a mashup of Abbey and Prohorovka, with the map retaining the 1 and 9 line corridors of Abbey, and the center field of Prokhorovka.

The center field has a high road through the middle which asks as a shield for the light tanks, and somewhat blocks TDs from firing north-south shots across the map. Thus, spotting as a light tank from here has limited utility except for aiding artillery. With the large number of tall buildings on this map, your artillery will have a hard time being of much use, and will often be counter-batteried after being spotted by the opposing scouts.

The 8-9 line is currently a favorite brawling point for heavy tanks, and they are able to go hull-down on the central road. Watch out for shots from tank destroyers in the field, but they don't seem to cause heavy tanks too much trouble.

In my opinion, the 1-2 line is where the battle is most often decided. Mediums and fast heavies can brawl it out, and smart players will send a few vehicles to flank around the brawlers and catch them in a crossfire. Once you obtain victory on the west side, you can assault their cap, and more importantly, start to flank their heavies brawling in the 8-9 buildings.

This map favors medium and heavy tanks, but other classes will still find some places they can work.
