Ok, so I have been playing WoT since 2013. Never bothered much with light tanks till recently. I sucked at them but I have since been starting to figure out their quirks and advantages. I got a T71 DA and Im posted up behind a bush. The bush is panoramic in nature meaning it covers my tank about 180 degrees around it basically. My problem is that I pull up just behind this bush to spot. Then I start getting pinged and have to pull back. No, I have not shot out from behind this bush. Not even my gun went through it. I was just close enough to see through it. So why is it that I still get spotted. This is quite confusing. Another instance where this happened was I was in my Pershing and I popped up behind this some concealment with multiple layers. Almost instantly, I am getting shot at (and everything penetrates the Pershing).

I don't understand what i'm doing wrong. As far as I know, im behind bushes, I should remain unspotted. So, thats why Im hoping someone here can help me understand what i'm doing wrong. Im linking the two replays as explained above. Please, watch them so you know more what i've attempted at explaining and can point out key times on where I messed up. Someone please help me. I need to know.

In the first game:

You were proxi-spotted by the Rudy when you were first shot. The Rudy will automatically spot you from 52 m away and vice versa. The time when you got shot by the E25 and hellcat, you were spotted because a tiny bit of your tank was exposed when you drove into the bush and the E25 spotted it.

2nd game: There is a gap in the bushes just to your left and you were getting spotted through the gap by either the LOWE, T-10, or the T92.

First of all if you look at those bushes there's a space , on the tree side bush, you can see daylight.. i believe Rudy just took a shot because it is a favorite camping spot.. If i was in his place i would have done the same..

Not sure what your crew is like but i did notice No camo net.. No camo paint.. No binos.. No vents.. Always increase your camo rating and your view range by any means if your a light ..Camo and view are a light Tank's bread and butter..It means survival...

Once the Rudy was beside you on the incline you were probably proxy spotted but sense didn't go off till you got shot...

To get the most help out of camo you need to have the camo skill 100% on all men camo paint on tank then park om-14m behind bush but as stated you can get proxi spotted if a tanks gets close enough

Lots of good advice here.  You should take it.

For your perusal later:

Battle Mechanics -- Global Wiki (linked at Vision and Spotting, though ALL of it is good to know)

Crew -- Global Wiki (this explains the one part of your tank that always improves [other than YOU] take care of your Crew)

The above are directly related to your questions.  Use them.

Thank you everyone for your feedback, it's pretty helpful. I see now where I was going wrong. I didn't know about those spots on your tank that people spot you from and the spots where you spot from. All the info sent to me has been very helpful. Hopefully with this iknformation and some practice, I can become a better scout and remain unspotted.
