I think last Christmas Holiday Ops was the best. Let's see if they can beat it this year.

If they have the same box event last year, I would likely spend at least $100.

Well, my only regret last year was not spending enough because I just spent $100 before that event.  Fortunately, my $20 landed a Type 59 :D

It would be nice if WG could give some information so we can plan ahead...

I would rather have the 50% off premium time... How-Be-Ever the boxes were nice and I got a lot of bang for the buck.

I doubt they do the loot boxes again based on the latest legal ruling.  Just google loot boxes and gambling.

Gambling?  Only if you are a pearl clutching Eurocrat so desperate to control every facet of your citizens lives that you have to go after video games.  Besides it is abundantly clear each region is capable of running their own promotions and specials.  So if the self proclaimed benevolent gods of Brussels deems the Europeans incapable of handling the evils of the boxes, we will still get them on NA as they were popular and a good money maker.

That is satisfactory for U.S. law, but overseas it may not be enough.

The thing that makes this suspect is that they're random chance, and you might not get a thing you want. When children are concerned that means a lot more.

By your reasoning all collector card packs are gambling because you might get a rare card or common filler.  Bubblegum machines are out as you might not get your favorite flavor.  and don't get me started on trying to pick up a chick at a bar...  :girl:

I mean, all of those things are. The caveat in there being that you're getting an actual physical product, versus getting some pixel on a screen. As far as I've been able to tell most countries are fine with it if you get an actual physical product. Something about inalienable physical value/production costs yada yada.

Don't get me wrong though, I enjoyed the christmas boxes, all I'm saying is, there's a decent chance we wont see them this year, if things across the pond pick up.

I want to decorate an entire town this time. Also more loot boxes along the lines of the last event. I don't care about the prem tanks but the gold and other rewards were more than worth it.

If WG was smart and wanted to make a ton of money they would make such amazing deals that players would be stupid not to buy it !!

That was the very definition of the loot boxes from last year. I can't think of a single thread that complained about it and even the normal wg hater forumites were happy for once.

No, last year's loot boxes had too high a chance of credits or similar items not worth WG's "gold value".  I'd have come out better to buy straight gold on one of my loot box batches from last year, and about the same on the other.

Funny that I mostly received gold and prem time. Bought the $30 set and nabbed a lorraine, t28 f30, e5, the gold value for two more premiums I already had plus 60 days premium and 1 million credits with ending gold around 20k.

All for $30. Yeah such a ripoff.

I'm glad you got lucky.   Not everyone did.

Sure but plenty did get lucky and no one got less value than the money they spent even if some of it was grindable items like credits.

This is technically true,  but doesn't make them "must buy" deals.   Far from it if you got unlucky.

WG never did "loot" boxes.  They were gift boxes guaranteed to have at least the value of their cost OR MORE in every box.

This is well clear of any "gambling" issues.

If you were planning on spending money on the game at that time for whatever reason be it tanks or gold or prem time then they were certainly a must buy as you got more value per dollar for the same amount of dollar spent. The $30 deal was the sweet spot as the chances were great you get $30 worth of a single item with the other stuff being a bonus.

I'll spend probably USD 500+ in Nov/Dec/Jan time frame. Not too much more than that, though as there just isn't that much I need anymore.

Not in gold+ prem time+prem tanks, or at least not everyone.  Again, I'd have got more for my cash buying gold,  then using part of that to buy any prem time I wanted.   Didn't get the first prem tank, got mostly credits, which I normally wouldn't have spent real money on because they're such a bad value.

What does WOT have planned for Christmas this year? Are you going to do the boxes with the varying nations? How about some rare camo designs for the players who help keep this game "free" for the rest?????

I'd settle for a new map.
