My co-worker had a 2014 build date Dell i7 desktop computer that just wasn't working well, and when he moved on it was replaced and the old one sat under our office drawing table for about 6 months. Our tech said I could have it if I removed the hard drive, which I did and took it home. I couldn't find anything obvious wrong with it aside from being full of dust bunnies, and figure the hard drive may have been dying or Dell's bloat ware was dragging it down. Anyway, inside I found 8GB of ram, a 4slot motherboard, and a Radeon R7-250 2GB DDR3 graphics card, it's a mini sized OEM card with a small orange fan, and I didn't have much hope it would play WOT well if at all. Low and behold though, I dropped a $25 500GB hard drive into it along with a clean windows 7 install and it runs 36-80+ FPS on medium settings. I grabbed a $100 32" 720P LED TV at best buy, a Logitech wired mouse and keyboard combo on Amazon, and I'm into the whole setup for less than $200 and it's sure easier to aim at weak spots on the bigger screen.

Just an FYI if you are on a shoestring budget the little mini-sized Radeon card is a viable option, that while not optimum if you are wanting to circle around heavies in a AMX1375, will get you into the game. I will try playing with the settings more tonight and see how it does. I'm not overly picky and prefer more FPS over enhanced graphics myself.

The GTX1030 is available in a half-width version and gives good performance with no extra power needed.

The two biggest impacts on your FPS will be shadows and grass. If you disable those (There's a mod called "WoT Tweaker" that you can use to complete disable them, since the game only allows you to turn them down to medium / low settings), then your FPS will significantly improve. Disabling special effects and the enhanced destruction physics will also help you prevent spikes mid-battle when everyone's shooting their guns around.

Congrats on getting together a super cheap build that works though.

That's often true, but it depends on the card usually and sometimes the processor.  For some setups other settings will have larger impacts.

I tweaked the settings to "low" last night and it didn't drop below 48 FPS. That was when I was zoomed in on a group of 4 enemy tanks that were moving and firing and things were pretty busy. I'm pretty happy with it.

any video card with DDR3 ram or less then 256 bit core is trash ... better to have a 2 gig DDR5 256 bit video card then a 100 gig DDR3 128 bit video card ..

too many people without a clue about video cards fixate on how much ram a card has then the quality or speed of the ram or core .. its simply throwing money away as the card is packaged to fool gamers into thinking an outdated card is new tech when its not
