What's everyone favorite class of star ship?

Lyran ships from the Star Fleet Battles strategy game.

And Akyazi class perimeter action ships.

  • Star Trek Discovery: The LGBYTQRSTUVWXYZ Tour?  Seemed like it to me when I saw them at Comic Con.  Beyond that I've only watched the first episode as I'm not paying for CBS All Access.
  • Kirk vs Picard?  Kirk all the way as he coolness to spare, as well as being a meme of sorts (do I have that right?).
  • I liked Voyager a bit, especially the opening sequence which was a bit silly but still cool looking.
  • As a Babylon 5 fan, I feel Deep Space 9 is an abomination because its a rip off IMO.  Plenty to debate in that though.  Sisko made for a cool captain but really I couldn't watch this show because of what I saw as a plagiarism issue.
  • While not a Star Trek fan, I am a fan of the newer films.  I think Chris Pine makes a great Kirk, Karl Urban's a real good McCoy, Simon Pegg is a good Scotty and I think Anton Yelchin made a Chekov an enjoyable watch.

Discovery is a dumpster fire, and you're pretty spot on. That's part of why it's bombing out so hard. They've made the focus into another prequel cash grab with a crappy crew focused more on being politically correct than anything else. They even had to change how they called it from STD to DIS, because you can probably guess where the jokes were going there. From what I've heard they've even been dropping f-bombs left and right and I believe once even did a Klingon sex scene or something. Gag. Like they're trying to be Game of Thrones in space or something.

They even ruined the look of Tellarites.

All that is part of why I'm so desperate to get in there and have success. They're killing my favorite franchise (although my favorite is admittedly tied between Trek and M*A*S*H) all for the sake of being brain-dead social justice pushers.

Haven't seen the modern films, but haven't heard tons of good about them. Bit darker, going back to prequel times for each of them, destroying mainstay planets, etc. I don't think JJ Abrams was really cut out for Sci-fi work.

Just wanted to say, thanks everyone for all the conversation here! Been in a bit of a depressed state for a while now, and this has really lifted my mood!

Anyways, favorite episodes anyone? Mine are In the Pale Moonlight and just about any Q or Borg episode. (pretty sure I had a few others specifically I had in mind, but I forgot in the span of like 5 minutes)

Iam gonna break it down for each of the TV series what are some of my favorite episodes, and they're not in any order because it's hard enough just picking a few, 5 for each (10 for DS9 because that one is a bit hard to pick for)

Star Trek TOS:

1) The Devil in the Dark

2) A Taste of Armageddon

3) The Tholian Web

4) Journey to Babel

5) Court Martial

Star trek TNG:

1) Q Who

2) Déjà Q

3) The Wounded

4) The Drumhead

5) Relics

Star Trek DS9:

1) In the Hands of the Prophets

2) Emissary

3) Past Tense (both parts 1 and 2)

4) Shakaar

5) The Way of the Warrior

6) Little Green Men

7) Broken Link

8) The Begotten

9) In Purgatory's Shadow/ By Inferno's Light

10) Call to Arms

It's been so long since I've seen Enterprise, so this will be short

1) In a Mirror, Darkly (Parts 1 and 2)

Only seen 1 or 2 episodes of Voyager, but I do enjoy the like Doctor. His kinda like McCoy, but the grumpiness level bumped to 11, lol

For the truly dedicated to the original series check out this link.

https://www.startrektour.com/

Meet the original Kirk for only $1000. I walked in the front door last month but didn't have time for a full tour. The Gorn and salt-sucking creature at the front were pretty cool. The geek tour guides in ST uniforms were not.....

I really like all Star Trek material.  Some of it (ToS and TNG) are better overall than others (Discovery), but so long as they keep making decently entertaining material, I'll continue to watch it.  SciFi really is my favorite material for shows/movies anyway...

Piccard all the way.

Kirk would chase any green skinned bikini clad alien, and then wax existential about what his purpose was. Piccard was by the book, straight laced, and solid. But when the poo hit the fan, the man would uncork the weapons and blaze away.

I do like Kirk, but he was too much of a cad.

Janeway was decent, Sisko was awesome on DS9.

Still Piccard was the consummate leader and senior officer.

Sisko and Picard to me are in a class of their own

Kirk was just too much of a golden boy, and Janeway.....This is the logic of Janeway

"Oh, We cant destroy them? LETS BLOW UP THE F**KING SHIP!!!!"

I recently started watching The Orville and I really like that. TOS feel with updated jokes

While this is true, nothing can compare to the space ship battles in DS9

Lol lots @ STD.  How could they not see that one?

And look on Youtube perhaps for the Discovery panel at the SD Comic Con.  Very discouraging where they were going with it but considering Starfleet was headquartered in San Francisco, it makes tremendous sense given the current climate there (in San Fran) IMO.

Of the modern films, the first was by far the best and as much as I like Simon Pegg as an actor, he should not be allowed to be a co-writer in a Star Trek movie again, after being one for the third film (visually pleasing, story wise...ugh).

Agreed, this is a good series although film 3 was weaker than the other 2.

Into Darkness is my favorite and beats all Star Wars films imho.

Agree with Altwar's quote on this...

Star Trek. They are trying to make a come back, but they studio seems to have forgotten how to do it .

Then you got Star Wars which has totally gone off the rails.

Why do you think they torpedoed Axanar?  It was going to show up STD.  The fans understand what .ade the series great, the studios want to virtue signal to people who'll never be their customers.

CBS has declared Discovery a success, despite the fact that they are obviously making huge changes for season 2.  At this point they must be looking at "The Orville" and wondering why they just didn't do that. It costs less too.
