The onus is not on arty to evade shells. The burden of evasion, and the entire balance of fault, is always 100% the responsibility of tanks struck by arty.

Oooohhhhhhhh... now I see. My bad.

EDIT: I just reviewed the synopsis of your paper on arty fault. It seems to refer to arty being shot by the other side. If you take a close look at the damage direction arrow, I was shot by my own team's arty... twice... one causing an ammo rack, and the other destroying both my tracks. Could you add a section on this phenomenon?

I think you need to take it up with the arty player that hit you, not arty in general.

The problem is that most arty players think this is acceptable behavior, or are too stupid to know what they did.

Next suggestion?

Action: Arty gets TKed just for playing arty...OP condones

Reaction: No need to hold shots near teammates...OP comes to the forum and whines

Seem legit

I'll be honest in my opinion, considering I haven't played a ton of arty.

But I feel like it's sometimes a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Say you're arty. ( I know, you can shower after the thought) Your fellow player is calling for help, and you can do so, but you're gonna splash them or possibly full-on hit them. Do you? Because if you do and they're particularly salty or overly sensitive, they're gonna flip out for you hitting/helping them, even if you manage to take out the Red tank. Sometimes as arty you're blamed even when you do well. I think we've all probably experienced this.

Looks like the arty player on your team was a complete idiot for taking the shot anyway. I would have not.

Sadly, you can't stay both arty safe and moron player safe.  Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here.  Do you know who it was?  I ask because that seems awfully aggressive and purposeful.  To take it at another angle, I don't mind the artillery helping you out there.  Your second picture, based upon the angle when you took it, looks like the M53/M55 had an angle and room but they were freaking idiots and derped it.  OR, they had a beef with you and just felt like punishing you to be a jerk.  One time is a maybe.  But twice?  That screams [edited]!

The same concept applies to friendly arty as well. Given the aim dispersion variances it is nearly impossible for arty to guarantee a shell will land anywhere near where it is fires.

It is the job of tanks to ensure they do not park directly next to enemy tanks, and to run away if arty has marked on the map that they are about to fire.

To be clear, the first shot was from a 53/55 and the second from a Bat 58, so it wasn't the same player hitting me twice. It was two different players on my team each hitting me. Arty firing into a brawl has become more common lately. I'd say that 25% of the time I'm in a brawl when arty is on my team, I'm getting team damaged.

- If I'm going to die anyway? Fine. Shoot and try to save me.

- If you shoot wide in an attempt to stun the enemy and miss me? Fine. If I happen to get stunned at the same time, then whatever.

- If you shoot, and damage me, but apologize? I'm not happy about it, but at least you know you screwed up.

More and more lately, arty just indiscriminately fires when it shouldn't. What prompted the original post is that it happened twice in the same battle, within about 30 seconds of each other, AND... I DIDN'T NEED THE HELP. AND THEY HAD NO CLUE THEY WERE IN THE WRONG. The actions of these two morons essentially took a top tier super heavy out of the fight. Again, this happens more and more, and because arty doesn't get penalized the same as other tanks with respect to team damage, players tend not to care.

Well really what arty needs is the same team damage rules.. I find the only time I splash team mates is when the games a bit rubber bandish...

I didn't see that it was two different arty players.  In that case, I've got nothing.  Turds playing arty being turds.

All that I can do is try to help you understand that we're not all that way.  I can't tell you how many shots I've had to hold, despite wanting to let it loose with the intent of helping teammates.  But, I've held back because the risk was too great and, quite frankly, if the friendly lives and I end up killing the enemy, I'd still get get hammered by the friendly for splash damage, stun, etc.  I hate that this happened and I appreciate your angst and do not fault you for it.  Again, we're not all turds but there are a ton out there and I've had these games before.  Got popped twice in the span of 10 seconds on Paris while I was in my RU and there was NO reason for it to happen but it did.
