Have been grinding in the T20 for the "On Track," just tell me what to expect out of it from stock to upgraded.

Stock tracks will have horrible gun handling values, similar to the T20's. However, once you get the tracks upgraded, the Pershing's gun handling improves significantly, and it becomes much better at snap-shots.

In general, it's a hull-down support tank. Play from ridgelines when you can, and provide supporting fire to your team's heavy tanks and medium tanks.

+1

Had a battle earlier where I blocked nearly 2.8k dmg 2.7k spotting in a hull down spot.

I find the gun to be extremely accurate at range.

I loved the T20, Pershing, M46 and M48.... They're all good tanks.

It's a great tank and was my most played tank before 9.18.It works good if you play in a more supportive role when bottom tier which is quite a bit of the time and the gun handling is pretty good also. The Pershing and m46 are my favorites out of that line but my M48 gathers dust. I don't understand the love for the X it's not as good as the AX imo but that's just me.

It's kind of horrible stock but it gets much better fully upgraded though even then it's not great. Like a lot of US tanks the gun is frustratingly inaccurate, that's probably my biggest complaint with it. Otherwise it's decently mobile, does really well hull down and like most US tanks has excellent VR. AP pen is meh but APCR is good.

More like APCR is excellent at 268.   That's as good as or better pen than T10 base rounds.  The only T8 mediums with more prem pen are the STA twins at 275 HEAT and the 416 at 330 HEAT(Soviet bias, comrade)

It's a decent   tank fully upgraded. As others have suggested its a ridge line tank and get use trying find spots hide your hull. M46 is same at tier 9 the Pershing more prepares you for that play style.

It's not a bad tank but it is definitely powercreeped these days. I suppose it suffers less in the current meta/matchmaking than some other tech tree tier 8 mediums do (*cough* PANTHER II *cough* INDIENPANZER *cough*). It isn't stand-out strong at anything, but doesn't have any glaring weaknesses, either. The view range and gun depression are nice, but the power/weight is not, nor does it have particularly good soft stats in mobility or gun handling. Where it does excel is in the penetration of its premium ammo: dab that 2 key and you can deal with tier 9s and 10s quite handily, though this will of course make it much harder to turn a consistent profit unless you're better at postioning and reading the map than I am.

It isn't terrible to grind through, but since I have the M46 now I think I probably won't ever play it again in its current state. The Super Pershing is better at pretty much everything except flexing (though it isn't even really that much worse at that since the buffs; the Spersh's soft stats are worse but since it's slower you don't really notice that much), and never sees tier 10s.
