ok TOTALLY F"N AWESOME!!!! Shocked the HEAT out of me when I got 1, then got into 3 more!!! LOOVE THIS!! KEEP IT KEEP IT! KEEP IT! Glad to see WG is giving the Tier 8's an opportunity to not get pulled into Tier 8-10 Random MM's more then we want.. This is a WG Godsend! Now i gotta learn the maps.. Only been one of them a couple times in the past, Very Rare when that happened.. But This, did i already say AWESOME?!!!

Pros:
- all tier 8
- regular battle timeframe
Cons
- You cannot choose to enter a grand battle, just select the option to be eligible.
- more difficult to complete "place in the top 10" missions when there are 30 people on the team than on a team with 15.
- No bonds
- seems very difficult to get anything other than bottom tier at tier 8 if not playing a Grand Battle
Personally I enjoy the battle when the herds are thinned in standard battles. Often times fewer players on the board really opens up movement and active play. 30 on 30 goes the opposite direction, many more tanks shooting at those who risk getting spotted so I feel like movement is more restricted and the game moves too slow.
If this is an alternative to Frontline I prefer Frontline %100. I realize FL also took lots of tier 8 out of the standard battle rotation. But you could choose to enter a FL battle when you wanted to. If the concern with Frontline was the reward structure was too high, then tone it down and let people get their daily XP bonus in Fronline battles instead. I certainly didn't object to the rewards in Frontline but if Frontline where on par with standard battle rewards I would still enjoy it immensely.

I have played several so far and I have to admit that when I get them, I really enjoy the heck out of it. And having the ability to play these with Tier VIII is awesome due to the fact that you can load up a premium tank and make a boatload of credits, vs when it was restricted to Tier X and well...the incentive just wasn't there.
I sure hope this mode is perm introduced and kept.
I will echo a similar sentiment that has been brought up, and that is that one cannot chose this battle mode. I would like that better. However, perhaps a compromise would be to have MM favor the grand battle in Tier VIII at a higher frequency so getting bottom tier with the current 3/5/7 Template happens at a significantly lower rate than the 60% currently.
On a scale of 1 to 10. I give this mode a solid 8. Very entertaining, and very enjoyable.

Played two Grands on Klondike.
Wasn't too impressed. It seemed different from the last Grand Battles? (I forgot the name) earlier this year.
For instance, besides the tier VIIIs I have, I enjoyed being able to rent the T26E4 and T-44 for free.
I do like the extra credits though...

If this is to keep tier 8s in the feedbag for tier tens until you get frontlines out (as we could SELECT frontlines) then you are just shooting yourselves in the foot as a test, as the players who aren't playing tier 8 because of 3/5/7MM will continue to not play tier 8s whether they have this checked or not.
If you don't realize that tier 8 players WILL NOT continue to be random food for tier 10s,, then you can just watch this server dry up and blow away.
OPT IN to grand battles, OPT IN to Frontlines, OPT OUT of 3/5/7, Make 15MM, and 5/10MM priority over 3/5/7.
We can all put it in our sigs, we can post it over and over.... but if you don't GET IT, you will LOSE IT

played for most of the day. only saw 2 grand battles in tier 8 even though i was using a mix of vehicles.
i do prefer the larger battles like grand battle over the smaller team maps.
BUT having to suffer through relentless tier 10 games (about 75%-90%) just not worth it.
i have other games i can play where i am not cannon fodder for players with better equipment.
3/5/7 needs to go.

Well darn...that doesn't seem right that you haven't gotten in. I play for a few hours most every night (except Monday, I was sick...bad sick) and I've gotten in about 8 to 10 times now? Had like 4 alone last night.
Maybe you aren't playing during the prime time when there are a lot of Tier VIIIs in game? That'd be the only thing I could think of.

No bonds. Why? You really like to shaft tiers 8s don't you?
The frustrating thing is is that it coincides with the heist mission where you have to play at least 21 games each day to get the maximum bonds. Realistically, most people will have to play 25-30 games. In order to complete that many games in one day, I need to have fast games...so basically lower tier light tanks. This means I am switching GB off for the duration of this mission. That really sucks because I was looking forwards to tier 8 GB.
