The map could be a WWI battlefield example of maps: Verdun, Somme

WG could make this so new players can learn the game and enjoy the low tiers until they go up in vehicles.

idk just an idea that came thru mind

I think more tiers than just 10 can benifit from grand battles, but below 5 wouldnt work imo. Low tiers are supposed to be quicker paced more shoot shoot than actual strategy. I thing GB would work from maybe tiers 5-10. They are very fun after all

They've been working on expanding game modes found in random battles such as these. Hopefully we'll get the activity to one day have it. ^^

Some of those tier 1+2 would not make it across a grand map in 15 min me thinks...

Making these HD maps takes months of man hours of programming.  I vote NO.  Dedicate that development into the tiers that are most played. 8-10.

I think it would be nice to have tier 1 & 2 grand battles. But there are some slow tier 1 tanks that might struggle wading around on a very large map. I think that twice the size of prokhorovka is the max that would work well in a tier 1 game, Tier two probably shouldn't use to big of maps either or people wouldn't want to play their slower tanks.

I think grand battles for tier one is a great idea.

I think the limited amount of players in the queue for tier 1 would make it unlikely that they would get 60 of them into one battle.

however, if that were to change, the limited speed of tier 1s would allow 30 v 30 on an open, 1km x 1km map, like, say, Steppes

Sure.

Not new maps, though.

  1. Announce it as an event and play it up, incentivize it.  Limit what crews can be used, i.e. less than 2 full skill/ perks, or some smaller amount, like no 6th sense or less than one complete skill/ perk only.  No 4 perk crews from tier 10 brought down in the ultimate seal club.
  2. Maybe make a "Newb's Week," or weekend, once a month, with guaranteed Grand Battles every 90 seconds or 2 minutes, filled with bots to complete, if necessary.
  3. Make it a Saturday/ Sunday thing, where a Commander can earn a one-time-per event 210k experience package in some way on Saturday, then enjoy whatever perk/ skill is chosen on that Sunday's play.
  4. Stop making Grand Battles a check box, just make it a facet of normal random.  Asking new players to check a box for an optional mode may limit participation.  Maybe just make GB1-2 a standard mode, or find some way to sidetrack the stats [or some of the stats] from all GBs so that they do not affect other stats from randoms [MoE, etc].
  5. Use any of the 1 km sq maps.  Normal tier 1 and 2 tank density on the large maps feels weird and very light, or empty-ish, and that makes me think that 60 total could be great.
  6. As an aside, limit tiers 1 and 2 to the non-1km maps normally, something, like, say all 600m x 600m maps.
  7. Fisherman's Bay for best post WW1 feel.

Tier 6 is the most popular request for Grand Battles from what i've seen, it's a great tier, with good heavies, mediums, lights, TD's maybe, and.....those broken M44's, it could be a lot of fun, would definitely see a lot of Cromwell's running around, i would even say that imo it's one of the most balanced tiers with there being no OP premium tanks like there is AT TIER 8, T-34-85M is the only better than average tank but it's not the Skorpion G or Defender of Tier 6 tanks.
