So 24, would you put your 4 xmas bonus female tanker in a scout or would you use them as commander for 4 different tanks?

Question what's the point of high tier light tanks if medium tanks of the same tier can spot and do dmg better ?

I mean soure they keep there camo while moving but a medium with a camo crew can do the same.

Also where are these wheeled vehicles fitting in?

Depends on what you mean by high tier.  I play up to tier 8 scouts and usually feel like I am contributing, although a tier x match in a city sucks.  I find my camo on the move and choice of equipment and crew skills still allows me to out spot red mediums in most circumstances.   Many lights can pump out damage as well and function well late game.  I'm thinking French autoloaders in particular.  All that said, I'm still in no rush to go past tier 8 and am only contemplating doing so with French, Russian and Chinese lines.

Jury is still out on wheeled vehicles.  WG is really limiting their VR which will force them into an active scout role.  How well they do that remains to be seen.

So, it all depends on how you like to play.

A medium tank never holds its full camo while on the move, no matter the level of camo skill on the crew, paint, or resorting to food &/or vents.

Only LTs can do this.

Holding camo on the move is an advantage. :honoring:

I would put them all in one tank. Faster easier crew.

Thanks. They went in my Chaffee. Now I have an excellent US Light Crew, Simon Claus and the 4 Ladys.

I put all repair kits in the 2nd alot so when I get tracked I just double tap the 5 key and many times i am mobile before i even skidded to a stop from being tracked.
Also out AFE in the first slot and med kit or food or whatever in the third slot. All tanks the same. Makes muscle memory easy when fixing things. And yes sometimes I use multiple repair kits and they would be in the first and second slots.

Isn't it that you can only see a maximum of 550m overall no matter how much more you equip your tank. I might be wrong but, I've seen that in quite a lot videos (including Quick Baby).

Yes, you can only see a max of 445.   But lets say the enemy has camo which reduces your View Range by 50m.   If your View Range is only 445, you will not see him til he is 395 out.  However, if your View Range is 495 or greater, you will still see him at 445.   The idea for a scout is to make your range farther than max so, even after it is reduced by enemy camo, it is still max or close to max.

That said, I no longer try to max out view range on most of my scouts anymore.  With the way most maps are designed, it just isn't needed and putting some things into fighting capability works better overall.

Great guide but I noticed there was no mention of Passive scouting. I do understand that Passive scouting isn't popular but for some light tanks and drivers it might make them more effective rather then the active spotting where they get lit and popped easily.

If the player understands TD and camo usage then a High camo, Binocs, net, vents, and paint set up can help in different ways. I swear by the camo net because the best defense for a light is not being detected.

It is still a good guide though and anything that helps players enjoy the game and get less frustrated by it gets a thumbs up.

If you understand how to use bushes, a camo net is useless.  It really only helps you if you are sitting out in the open.

Props to you for the great community contribution you have just given. As a general overarching recommendation, I could not agree with you more regarding view range and I have most of my lights setup exactly this way.

I did have one question/caution regarding your binding the space bar to use the repair kit though. I have found when scouting with a light tank that the sidebreak is indispensable and use it far more often than repairing my track. It comes in very handy especially when in a knife fight with other scouts, or when active scouting and surfing a ridge line back and forth.  Assuming this is not news to you, what have you bound your sidebreak to instead of the spacebar and why?

Cheers!

-Jon

Best place for the brake is your middle mouse button.  I keep my repair kit on numpad5 because I run a few tanks with small repair kits so I need to double tap 5 to repair tracks.  I run large repairs on all my scouts but it is better for muscle memory to have it in the same spot for all my tanks.  Since, I am left handed and use the arrow keys to steer with my right hand, the numpad5 is very convenient for me.

Yeah makes a nice of change of pace from "everything suck I hate everything about WG" that normally dominates the threads.

Nice to have some useful information added in there.
