Before you ask.  I am not running any mods and I haven't in ages.

Ever since I patched out of the Halloween event into the patch for the anniversary I have had serious performance problems.

In an attempt to fix my performance problems, last night I wiped WoT from my computer completely and did a clean install of the HD client following the instructions here (except for the download which I got through the Wargaming.net Gaming Center): https://na.wargaming.../article/19406/

That seemed to fix the problem...last night.

This morning, my performance has dropped again.

What is going on?  I am open to suggestions.

Note, when I say performance, I normally run with vsynyc on and have solid 60 FPS (GTX 1070 8 GB vram, I7 3770, 16 GB ram, windows 7).  Before I performed the clean install I was bouncing around between 30 FPS and 60 FPS (WoT time averages the FPS so it isn't perfect, also, nvidia allows vsynyc at 30, 45, and 60 FPS).  After the clean install, I was solid 60 FPS.  This morning I am, again, bouncing around between 30 FPS and 60 FPS.

Obviously, some bit of software is unhappy.  I am open to suggestions.

Settings:

1920x1080, Full Screen, Triple Buffering, Vsync, 2nd monitor, FoV is default 95 degrees, Dynamic FoV is disabled, 60 Hz refresh, Scaling is default, 3d Render Resolution Dynamic Adjustment enabled,

custom settings:

improved engine

"Lighting and post processing" have sliders to the left.

"Vegetation" have sliders to the left with sniper mode grass disabled.

"Main" Top to bottom, High, Medium, High, High.

"Terrain and water" Water slider is all the way to the left, everything else is on and max.

"Effects" All max to the right and everything enabled.

Do you have any mods installed?  Both the personal missions helper and Marks of Excellence Extended mods have issues that can cause very low FPS in WoT.

Your hardware shouldn't be an issue.  The i7-3770 performs similar to the R7-1800X in WoT and other newer CPUs in WoT.  The GTX 1070 is powerful enough to give great FPS in WoT.

Have you installed the latest graphics drivers and intel chipset drivers?

Also have you tried closing the game and going to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks then deleting everything in there?

Do you have any software to monitor system temperatures?  If something is over heating it can cause the FPS to drop.  HWMoniter is free: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Your framerate should never be dipping below 60 with the specs you have.  I run a gtx 970 and i'm pretty rock steady at 60 with vsync on at 1920x1200.  Have you tried watching the windows task manager while playing?  See if you notice if your cpu or gpu usage is spiking.

Mods:

Bavor, I appreciate you responding to me.  Your post seems sincere.  However, the very first question you asked was LITERALLY answered in the very first line of my original post.

So, I am just going to ignore the question in the first line of your post.

Driver updates:

I had tried a clean install of my drivers before I did a clean install of WoT.  I had been running version 388.71 from back in February and updated to 417.01 from this week with no perceptible change in my performance.

There are no chipset or motherboard driver updates avaliable for me.

Settings folder:

Last night I cleared the folder C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks in question as a part of the the clean install I linked to in my original post.  Clearing it again might help but there should be a broader and more common problem if the work around is I need to wipe my AppData folder every time I fire up the client.

Temperatures:

I thought I might be overheating and throttling last night before I took the step of doing a clean install of WoT.  I installed openhardwaremonitor last night and it wasn't showing CPU or GPU temperatures much above 60 degrees C (in my experience this is pretty typical and I don't start getting concerned until you get close to 90 degrees C).  I also checked my ram and vram utilization in-case i was missing something and they were both fine with plenty of space left in memory (no surprises).

I am getting the same problem.

Specs:

i7 7700HQ, 3.8GHz, GTX1060 MaxQ, 8GB RAM, 250 GB NVMe SSD.

Overnight, went from running full ultra at constant 60 FPS to barely making 20 in the garage.

Reinstalled graphics drivers, reinstalled older graphics drivers. Wiped game and appdata folder.

Still at 19 FPS in garage...

Hardware not overheating, reaching a maximum of 60

Someone please help :(

Have you been in task manager under performance to see if your system RAM is being hogged ? if you use firefox it will open no less then 5 processes and use tons of ram for a single tab to be open and with nothing going on

When was the last time you cleared recent downloads or went in and cleared recent activity ? when you re downloaded the game you possibly have 20 gigs worth of updates in your update folder

believe it or not all that stuff will affect game performance and last but not least go look for the box your video card came in and look at the core speed and RAM speed and then go into your video card software and double check this >> I use AMD HD7850 which is much older card then yours and know for a fact those (cannot be repeated multiple swear words) at AMD when I down load new drivers they intentionally load the core and ram speeds at half of normal .. apparently they figure dimb people will shell out another $500 on a new video card instead of finding out why?  possibly Nvidia is also pulling this scam?

also you might have an issue with overheating and unaware ? possibly your video card might have a thermal protection so if it gets too hot it might throttle back the core speed and ram to lower the heat out put? verify fan is working and use compressed air to clean out fans and case .. this is normal maintenance and should be checked often

I have the same problem, been occurring since the 0.913 client.  Performance degrades ~80% per day on minimal SD and minimal HD clients.  Reinstalling the client produced the same result.  Tried ~5 different AMD drivers without solving the problem.  Fans are clean and working, verified the CPU cooler is effective.  Tried repairing the game.  Cleared the download folder with no effect.

Tried both the HD and SD Clients at max to minimum settings

fresh reboot - 120+ fps
Day 1 - 40 fps
Day 2 - 4-7 fps

Ping to NA is 20-120 ms.  Performs the same on NA or LA servers.  Shutting down almost all processes yields no performance improvement.

Win7 Pro, fully patched, i7 7700K at stock timings, 32 Gb RAM, 480 8 Gb, Asus Z270 shipset, All SSD drives, no mods.  Power is good, PSU looks good on the scope.  Behaviour with and without wufuc CPU mod is identical.  CPU temps <40°C, GPU <60°C.

Computer performs fine in all other games (fallout 4, Wolfenstein II, Farcry5, 6x EVE clients, Civ V and VI, Fallout 76, Fortnite (according to my nephew))

Anything I missed.  Bit stumped by this frustrating, ongoing problem.

I have performed extensive tests on if my CPU and GPU are overheating and I have determined they are not.  My GPU peaks at 70 degrees C and my CPU at 60 degrees C and both are typically much much lower.

I have also determined that my GPU, CPU, and memory are not being fully taxed by WoT and yet I am experiencing performance dips that materialize as jerkiness which is damaging to the experience of controlling the tank.

Between this experience and the occasional sound problems (If you have ever heard what computer audio sounds like if more sounds are being played than the sound chip has channels, that is what it sounds like) and other problems that I and others have experienced I think wargaming have released under-cooked code.  It will not have been the first time.

You may or may not have a problem with the HPET, causing your microstutter. Check this link:

Neat, +1 for introducing me to something I didn't know.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have helped or hindered any enabled or disabled.

If it happened overnight, its likely a windows update.

Change your Vsync in the Nvidia control panel to off unless application specified (AMD GPU user, don't know the Nvidia setting), but enable it ingame, try with and without triple buffering (it shouldn't be necessary for it to be ticked).

Turn OFF dynamic adjustment, it drops graphics when you computer can't handle, which your computer should handle easily.

Disable other monitors if not in use (windows screen resolution).

Try GPU overclocking software and set the GPU clock to default, but turn up the power limit setting, so the Core is more likely to stay at its designated clock setting.  Turn off Ultra lower power state (ULPS).

My Vsync seems to work fine, where it will cap at 60 and go a few fps below now and again, but wont do the annoying drop down to 45 or 30 (triple should drop only to 45), but I get hard lock/crash when playing for a while, that happened on my old PC as well, that i've never been able to solve.

I was having the same problem over the last week or whatever, after reinstalling WoT.

I play on an i7 8700k (3.7Ghz stock right now), RTX 2070 XC ULTRA 8G, 16GB RAM & a 2TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO NVME. I've been playing at 3440x1440 G-sync with no problems for awhile at around 120-170 frames, and then all of a sudden, I started getting these really annoying micro stutters every time I played. Whats strange, is it only happened when I moved my vehicles. If I was at the countdown screen looking around or stopped my vehicle during gameplay and looked around, it stopped happening, and then would start again as soon as I started moving - lots of micro stutters with normal framerate showing. I also noticed WoT was eating up a lot of ram which isn't normal for me.

I checked my cpu/gpu temps, and cpu/gpu were both at ~50-55C(cpu always a little warmer). I realized I had installed the SD version, so I switched over to HD after downloading the additional content. I then saw that there was a new windows update today(though it seemed to be mostly about phones or some such) which I installed. I also had new sound drivers to install, and there was a new video driver available(though I think this driver has been ready to install for a few days).

After doing all this my stutters went away. Long story short, one of these updates fixed my problem. Unfortunately I don't know which one.

I tried re-pasting my GPU and CPU and it has had zero effect.

Here is another replay example of the other extreme of my unexplained FPS drops:  http://wotreplays.eu...ad541d36d0f9f0b

If you didn't know in the upper left corner of the screen shows the original recorded FPS and the current FPS in parenthesis so it looks like: original (current)

You will see that my FPS is normally 59-60 but at times it dips severely and it goes below 30 at one point.  The map is Mannerheim Line and not one that I would assume is difficult to render so I am quite unsure what is causing this.  I had suspected that foliage was causing the performance drops based on experiences on other maps (examples include the northern field area of Minsk or the southern and eastern parts of the south field area of Highway) but that doesn't explain the drop before approaching in the M103.  The only thing I had open at the time other than WoT was Discord which shouldn't be causing this and I have had similar experiences on other maps without Discord or anything else running so I don't think Discord is to blame.

One thing I have noted after a lot of experimentation is that running with Vsync in game turned on roughly halves my GPU clock speed (the standard clock speed is about 1550 Mhz and boost clock speed is about 1950 Mhz, with in-game Vsync turned on it is normally about 750 Mhz and never goes above about 950 Mhz).  Which is normally fine but the clockspeed doesn't ramp up to meet demand when the game needs it.  This requires more experimentation, for example: I don't know if it is different with turning Vsync off in-game and forcing it on at the driver level or if I need to wipe my video driver and reinstall it.

I have never heard of Vsync limiting GPU clock speeds before.

Note: I do STILL get FPS drops, other than micro-stutters, even without Vsync turned on.  So please don't pigeon hole this problem, this Vsync/GPU clock speed issue is a side issue which may or may not be related to the real problem.
