Howdy Boom Jockies!

Today’s the day for the Hotchkiss EBR, the Tier VII French wheeled armored car, to roll onto the Supertest. We’re going to check how well balanced its stats are, and also to continue battle-testing the new game mechanics. When we’re through, we’ll decide on the release set of game mechanics and the finalization of the entire wheeled vehicle mini-branch.

The Hotchkiss EBR is a ‘transitional’ vehicle introducing the players to the gameplay peculiarities of the top-tier wheeled armored cars. It doesn’t have the two driving modes like them, but it does have the Charge ability and the special ‘magnet’ lock-on feature. The 75-mm gun is autoloading. The dynamics and maneuverability of the Hotchkiss EBR are worse than those of Tier VIII–X vehicles, and the absence of their Drive (fast) results in a lesser top speed.

Depending on test results, the stats of the Hotchkiss EBR may change. Follow the news and all the best luck in your battles!

As an registered arty h8r I approve of wheeled vehicles. Anything that ruins the arty experience is ok by me.

Bring them on!

The penetration values shown above are better than I was expecting, but that's just as well because if they were low then players would just spam gold to compensate. So hopefully it'll be established that having low pen values isn't a gameplay punishment so much as a financial punishment, and balancing based on penetration is impractical until a comprehensive ammo rework has been made.

But the big puzzle is just what in the hell kind of playstyle is this thing intended to have? Not nearly enough view range for active scouting, and far too fragile to be risking getting close to the enemy in the early and middle stages of a match. And if the goal was instead to make an aggressive flanker, then it would need outstanding firepower to justify such a risky playstyle. Consider something like a Luchs as a precedent. With those two options off the table, the path of least resistance is probably going to be TD-like sniping. It may not be all that great at this either, but it doesn't suit any other role in its current state.
