Tankers, a new version of Minsk is coming up on Supertest!

Pretty soon we’ll start the closed test for a new version of the Minsk map. The second iteration is a smaller size (900x900 meters), with its main action spot relocated.

These changes will make playing on the open part of the map more of a thrill for mobile vehicles and will also increase the importance of spotting. The number of destructible objects able to impact the gunplay will go down significantly.

Fences have been gathered into piles or blocks and placed in a few locations instead of lining the streets and park avenues to prevent crossfire. This new configuration will allow for more opportunities to crossfire between flanks and quickly flex over to support if necessary. Additional passages between flanks have been added and foliage has been clipped to reduce cross-flank obstruction.

Shorter distances will contribute to directional synergy, create more tactical options and add more variety to battles. The city blocks on this stage of testing are far from being final, and will be adjusted based on results.

Once we collect the necessary info, we’ll decide on this map’s fate.

Any change to Minsk is a good change.  E line, which seems seems to be a common theme amongst the newer maps (central divide), limits game play.  Essentially encourages camping, and directs fighting towards the sides of the maps.  The central areas of the map are essentially unused real estate.  Hopefully the 2 - 5 corridor will "useable" with the rework.

Why in the holy hell would you make a map smaller?  Maps are already too small to begin with.

Smaller is not better.

I like the changes here. I'm not entirely convinced about making it smaller, but shifting the map's borders up north are a good change. As it stands right now on the live server, both flanks feel more like corridor / city fights, the middle doesn't have enough opportunities for more aggressive gameplay outside of basic crossfire shots. These supertest changes look like good changes at first glance.

Kinda reminds me of ensk. Sucks the south doesn't have any cover on the bottom left.

1kx1k should be the minimum for any map that will see tier 8-10.

atm Minsk is pretty trash, so if this change doesn't fix that, it'd be pretty frickin' neato if you could just remove it.

I think the change looks nice but it does not need to be smaller!

Minsk is the worst map (by far) in the game and now you are going to make it worse? lol

We need BIG maps and not these ridiculous city maps. Frontline showed how large sprawling open maps can actually make the game play more dynamic.

At quick glance, this immediately seems to favor south team.  They seem to easily be able to make it to buildings and hard cover positions in time to be ready for north team when they get there.  If north doesn't try to take city, then it will become East vs West and south spawn will have the building cover.  Making it smaller is also a horrible choice.

minsk is one of the worst maps in the game, but this isn't how you fix it.

Domo, I genuinely appreciate all your hard work you do for us, so please don't take this as a slight against you, because I'm sure you have nothing to do with map design...because whoever does map designs need to be replaced.  This crap is hilarious.

Was instantly reminded of all those forum posts where people were clamoring for smaller maps. And who says WG never listens to its players?

edit: Also this:

"Shorter distances will contribute to directional synergy, create more tactical options and add more variety to battles."

Be sure to play a few more games on Ensk or Mines to fully understand what this means.

WG introduces these brand new maps like Kharkov, Stalingrad, Pilsen and now Minsk and either has to remove them or radically change them to make them viable.

WG also has clearly ruined maps like Fjords, Erlenburg and Fisherman's Bay and to some extent Steppes by putting in camping hills for TDS (like any map needs a hill specifically created for TDS to camp!).

Hire some new people in the map department.

IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!

Let's take a map the size of a shoe box and make it smaller.

I actually thought this map was okay, not good, but okay and better than Pilsen, Fjords, Erlenburg, Province and Mines.
