I am seeing it in game for the first time now, and this second turret is TERRIBLE. I don't think it was even possible to mount the walker bulldog turret on the chaffee body! It is ugly as sin, and it is such an eyesore it is almost as painful to see as the last set of tank voices were to listen too.
"Maybe" if we get enough backing they can do something to it. The stock chaffee looks just kick tuckus. The upgrade is terrible. This turret was the wrong route to take!
Please feel free to vote!
Devs, PLEASE remove the second chafee turret (T37)

Can you post 2 screen shots to show the differences to those who don't have the tank?

You can change the turrets yourself.

Brief tutorial:
Go to game dir>res>vehicles>american>A34_M24_chaffee>normal>lod0
Make a backup of all 3 files named "turret_02"
Copy all 3 files named "turret_01" and paste them back in the folder
Rename them "turret_02"
Ta'dah.

The hit boxes will be different because they won't match the model anymore, but still. I highly recommend that if you want to keep your sanity.
If it werent for the fact that you could only mount the best gun on the upgraded turret, I would keep the stock turret. Screw 40 hp and 40 view range, the Chaffee with stock turret is too cute

They should swap the turrets so we can use the first one as the upgraded one or at least allow us to mount the big gun on the first (and better looking) turret.

Just make either the M4, or M7 basic turret the second choice. They already have the models for them and use similar guns.
As a light it seems too tall. You will easily get killed just peeking over a hill taking a look.

I love the second turret. It looks funny and deadly at the same time... kind of like a bulldog. Maybe that is why the tank that it was later mounted on, the successor to the Chaffee, was later named "Walker Bulldog."
The turret's size really doesn't make it much easier to hit. It's still pretty small, just large relative to the small hull. And it being taller means that it is easier to peak over hills and potentially has better gun depression (not sure if it actually does).
Swapping out the model will just hurt you in the long run. Your hit-box will still be the same size and you will be easier to hit than you appear to be. Similarly, enemy Chaffees will appear harder to hit than they actually are.

The second turret is too big for the chassis and is ugly as sin. If it looked anything like the Walker Bulldog turret, it would be fine. But as it is, it makes the Chaffee look like the cartoon version of a tank. Please, devs, rework this turret so it matches the awesomeness that is the M24.

The M41 Walker Bulldog was a U.S. light tank developed to replace the M24 Chaffee. It was named for General Walton Walker

It IS a "cartoon", as described earlier, and in the Real World, it was Not possible to swap hulls & turrets between the two vehicles without a lot of cost-prohibitive effort, so it wasn't even considered. The M41 was designed four or five years after the M24 and the two projects were absolutely unrelated excepting the requirement to replace the M24.
EDIT: ... Dammit, Mike, ya beat me to it!

I did what ramp4ge suggested and it works very well. Saves me from having to look at that eye sore. Too bad everyone else see's me in a god ugly turret though
#-7 Posted Sep 16 2011 - 17:10
I have no issues with the upgraded turret. It has so many guns on it! that's just awesome!
#-6 Posted Sep 16 2011 - 18:51
While the tutorial for changing the model is nice, I'm not gonna do it. Want to see if the top of my tank is poking out above some bushes/rocks or something. The tank looks rather comical with the big turret as well, not pretty but just funny to look at. The turret is almost bigger than the tank.

Yes and No.
I do not like the turret very much. However, The T37 turret was used on the M41 Walker Bulldog. This could be the sign that the Mods are seriously considering adding this tank into the game. Or perhaps they have already decided this and have laid the foundation for it.

It does look awkward. I'm gonna give it some time and see if it grows on me.
#-3 Posted Sep 17 2011 - 03:33
I really dislike the upgrade turret, it looks absolutely absurd on the Chaffee chassis. My solution would be to keep the first turret but get the bigger gun and a slight increase in hp and no increase in view range. The upgrade turret needs to be on a future M-41 Wlaker Bulldog light tank as the starting turret.
#-2 Posted Sep 17 2011 - 03:34
The 76mm gun looks puny on the upgraded turret, it looks like it should really be able to fit a 90mm gun.

I didn't think I had to make that clear in my post because I specifically mentioned "bulldog," not "Walker."
PS. I stand by my comment saying that the T37 turret is totally awesome. It makes it look unique, which is much more than you can say about the other tier 5 lights.
