We’re starting the closed test for the first vehicle in the French armored car branch, the Panhard AMD 178B, which will sit at Tier VI.

Today marks the start of closed testing for the first Wheeled Vehicle in the French Tech Tree: The Tier VI Panhard AMD 178B.

It carries a 75-mm gun and has two axles (and four wheels). Of the wheeled vehicles’ new game mechanics, it offers only the special ‘magnet’ auto-aim. Two driving modes and the Charge ability are not available at this tier so that the vehicle isn’t overloaded with innovations and tankers get introduced to them step by step.

At this tier, there is no Charging/Boost mechanic, or multiple driving modes to worry about, as the vehicle has 4 wheels on 2 axles. This was a conscious design choice to introduce players to the new mechanics slowly, rather than overwhelming players with all of them at once.

The closest ‘relatives’ the Panhard AMD 178B has gameplay-wise are light tanks. Yet it possesses better mobility and crosses difficult terrain with more ease. Customary of wheeled vehicles, it has good gun stabilization on its 75mm cannon but limited view range, and limited stationary hull traverse due to having wheels instead of tracks.

The armored car is vulnerable and should avoid face-to-face shoot-outs as it has neither armor nor firepower required for those. Its tactical niche is providing active spotting and fire support while relying on its swiftness.

Depending on test results, we may change the armored cars’ stats and/or mechanics. Good luck on the battlefield, tankers.

AMD?  Sorry, mate, I'm all team blue here! /s

12 degrees of pointy downy seems fun.  I'm still kinda on the fence about these being good additions to the game, but I can't deny they look like buckets of fun to drive.

Yeah but can it climb up ontop of a Mauerbrecher and ride around as an extra turret?  :amazed:

I landed an EBR Code last night from one of the CC's.  It's extraordinarily niche vehicle that is mostly frustrating to play in most of the funneltactular maps.  Wargaming really really wants these things to keep moving with their sub-par view ranges, and their inability to traverse when stationary.  This means that using that gun depression isn't all that useful compared to something like a Comet or T20.

With all due respect why do they keep developing tanks to mess up the heavy tank players? Unrealistic what an amx or a bc can already do. Is this because people whine about SPG's?

Imagine the few weeks/months after these things are released and so many people are driving them... Which means players will be only interested in "fun" activities and not actually spotting or assisting their teams for the win. This is the downside of adding so-called fun vehicles, IMO. I've been watching some streamers play the Tier VIII, and it seems they are more interested in zooming around and climbing hills than actually playing the game.

x.

In their part 2 video on wheeled tanks, they had this come off the ELC AMX

Thanks. my fault, I saw that video go by, and put it into my watch later list and still haven't gotten to it.

WG ruled ASLAIN's AUTO AIM+ was illegal 5 years ago but the ERB 75 can use it now.  Is it legal to use now for players?

I get the impression that the average, unsuspecting Joe is going to have a hard time steering because the wheels change the handling. Going to be a lot of these drowning, going over cliffs, ramming teammates, etc.

I'll repeat my usual shtick. A blind light tank no matter how fast is going to be a terrible scout. The wheeled tanks could end up being a decent camo-snipers and of course in the late game they can be the opportunistic cleanup crew. But they aren't going to be scouts, active or otherwise.

watching the tier 8 lately, it's the first thing to truly remind me of what a 50-2 could do back in the day.  Out run turrets, turn on a dime without losing speed, hit things at full speed like it's nothing...basically, I'm super jelly and want one of the EBR's already lol.

I think the avg player will struggle in them, so expect games to be over even faster than they are now (4min? maybe?) and expect even more yolo suiciders when they launch.

So I got a Rental from a streamer, shout out to one of my favorites, Trobsmonkey. When my friends are spectating me it always reads 20 KPH less than what my screen is saying.

The Panhard EBR 75 FL 10 is not really going to be an active scout. It can get to super aggressive spots early but lacks the view range to make goo use of those locations. To me it seems to fill out a similar role to the E-25. It works better as a second line support until mid to late game then it can go around executing enemies. The only way it can be a good active scout is with tremendous camo ratings or a view range buff. It is amazingly fun to play and it seems balanced if played as an extremely mobile TD like the E-25 but with a turret. That being said I think it is in a good spot right now.
