I really can't do a damn thing in it. Occasionally the stars align and everyone does something stupid I can take advantage of, but I haven't been able to figure out how to actually MAKE opportunities with it.

Going hull down is useless (and doesn't appear to actually improve its camo values for some reason).

Its armor is soaking wet cardboard cemented together with the residue out of the dumpster behind WG's offices, and utterly worthless. There's no point to angling or wiggling. Nothing short of divine intervention will prevent tier 7+ from penetrating.

Its view range, while decent, is negated by the massive size of the vehicle, meaning if you can actively spot something, they can spot you back.

DPM is hanging lower than my grandad's nuts with the top gun, which is necessary with the awful tier 8 mm.

It's mobility is just absurdly horrendous. I've been beaten up hills by Obj 277's.

Literally the ONLY bright spot of this tank appears to be that it has penetration equal to the heavies of the same tier.

Is their something I'm missing here, or should I just abandon the grind? I've heard the E-50's are effectively more of the same.

Step 1:  put the gun to work.

...

That's it.  And try not to get shot in the process.

Honestly, just think of it like a mage in an MMO.  Put the gun to work and try not to aggro anything.  However, if you do, you do have a larger than normal HP pool to work with and you can angle the armor to bounce the occasional shot.

Don't be afraid to use your HP when the situation dictates it.

Use you team as meatsheilds as you farm damage and/or flank.

Dont be afraid to hide in the back with this tank.

I liked the Panther II enough to keep it and use it to research the 88 L/100, with the E 50 waiting in my garage until the L/100 was unlocked.
Tier for tier, the E 50's turret is about as squishy, but it at least has usable hull armor; and finally gets a gun with good alpha.

I'd say the E 50 has a bit of a different play style if you have the 105 equipped; with the 88 L/100, it's basically the Panther II with over 3K DPM.
(gotta watch out for the overmatch mechanics with the lower caliber, though)

The E 50 is a solid enough tier 9, for me at least.

The Panther 2 is a bad tank.  It has been ever since they went to +/- 2 tier MM a looong time ago.  Most of the original tier 8 mediums have been awful since then, and they haven't been buffed enough since then.

It's the major turd in every line that you have to get through.  Just accept that the tank will not win in its current form, and get to the E50 asap.  I only play mine in frontlines.  It really doesn't prepare you well for the E50, because you can't do any of the things the E50 can, and expect to survive.

Do you run the Long 88 on your E50 or the 105?  I asked a UniCrumb in-game and he said the 105.  Personally, I like the fasttt reload and DPM of the L100/88

....

Panther II:  top dog, play support.  T9 or T10 match, long range sniper.  Tank isnt garbage, its just not as well-rounded as say the Pershing or T-44.  Play it to its strenghts:  accuracy at a distance.

I'm currently running it with the 105, though I've had a few good games with the 88.

I really struggle to avoid taking damage with it.

The problem I face is that it seems the maps are mostly conducive to brawling and channel players into two primary areas. The result is that most long range lines of fire are blocked by the friendly meatshields, are hampered by the abhorrent camo values of the Panther II, or largely don't exist due to terrain features of the map (looking at you Himmelsdorf).

Interesting.
Very interesting.

In any case, I can platoon Panther IIs if you find yourself playing WoT at a time I'm playing it.
