In addition, the most important news of the week is that patch v6.7 has been released which brings the new tier 5 light tanks for all 3 nations, Sherman Jumbo and the the only one of a kind Type 59 from China! As part of this weekend's festivities to honor US tank commander Creighton Abrams, the World of Tanks NA Twitter account will be hosting a quiz focusing on Creighton Abrams' career as a tanker and his life as a whole.

What's this whole quiz about, you ask? It's simple:

Head over to the World of Tanks NA Twitter page.
We'll ask 20 questions, spread out to one question every 15 minutes.
The quiz begins at 1PM PDT (4PM EDT) on September 15, 2011 and is scheduled to end at 6PM PDT (9PM EDT) on September 15, 2011.

Winners will be selected at random from the correct submissions for that question.

Notes

Don't rush your answer! You have 10 minutes; submitting it within one minute does not grant you any more eligibility than the person who submits it after 9 minutes.Read up on Creighton Abrams and the topic of the question to make sure you're answering correctly!
You don't have to stick around for the entire quiz if you don't want to. Each question you answer correctly will give you a chance to earn some gold.

World of Tanks Release Plan For 2011-2012
What to expect in WoT in the near future? A lot of stuff!
We give you the unique opportunity to get hold of World of Tanks release plans for 2011-2012. I'm totally sure most of the plans announced will be accomplished in time thanks to the team of highly-skilled professionals, that currently comprises around 300 people in 3 major offices.

The main focus of the development team is to introduce new game modes, add more tank models (French are coming soon), new maps (Jungles, anyone?), improve visual effects and the engine itself.

Q: When will you add password for selling tanks?
A: We're working on that, cannot promise exact date for now. We are constantly improving our security.

Q: Will all tanks from countries like Italy, Hungary, Sweden, etc. be available only for gold? Or they will get non-complete tech trees for credits?
A: It is possible that we will make one mixed tech tree for several European countries. For credits.

Q: Will you add any obstacles for the cannon? Right now cannon passes through every object.
A: It will be left as it is. If we block cannon or turret with obstacles, the game becomes unplayable.

Q: Do you plan to modify ignore function so that the system will ignore pings and automatically commands like Help!, Affirmative!, etc. from the ignored player? The aim is to get rid of spammers. It will help a lot.
A: We work on improving chat functions.

Q: Has Clan Wars worked out the way that Wargaming expected or hoped that it would?
A: Speaking for myself [Overlord] here, not exactly the way we wanted, the progress of UC is a bit slow. We have plans for a lot of great stuff, but it takes much time.

Q: Is the VK2801's repair cost supposed to be 10000 or so? That seems like a bug.
A: Not a bug, repair costs for tier 5 LT are meant to be that high.

Q: Are there any plans in the future to expand equipment slots (binocs, vents, rammer, etc.) on the tanks? There are some of my tanks that I could use four or even five slots, perhaps more. Thank you.
A: Yes, there are such plans, however currently this is not being worked on. We are focused on new crew skills and achievements/medals.

Q: With the inclusion of the China Type 59, are there any plans to change tanks of foreign nationality as well? For example, the Canadian Ram II tank. Whether now, or in the future? For example, a Commonwealth/British Empire tree.
A: There are no such plans, but this sounds reasonable.

Q: Will there be special events for premium account holders?
A: Thinking of that, most likely there will be some. However, we don't divide the playerbase based on premium account status, since "premium account holders" are only a part of "paying users" group.

Q: Any idea, when will alpha tests of World of Battleships start?
A: Most likely next year. There is no playing build yet.

Q: Why did you feel the need to nerf TDs in the 0.6.7 patch? They already have worse armour, less hitpoints, less mobility than other tanks and no turret (so tracking has way worse impact). Why nerf them further?
A: We are rebalancing/adjusting them, generally speaking. Only some of them really need some nerfing (e.g. T25).

Q: Is there some sort of bonus to damage when you and your target are closing at high speed and/or malus when you run away from shell?
A: No.

Q: Will you (Overlord) be the face of WoWP to players as well as WoT, or will we get a different "Overlord" for it (and same about WoB)?
A: I will put up a poll on this to see if players want me to work with World of Worplanes. As for World of Battleships, it's a bit too early to speak of it, there is no playing build, and it might only arrive in 2012.

Q: Overlord, any statistics on average match duration overall and if you don't mind per map? That would be quite interesting. Thanks in advance.
A: Don't have such data at my disposal currently. Will see if I can obtain it.

Well I had been asked to make an E-75 with the Ambush camo so I did.
For this E-75 I went three ways. I picked the sPzAbt 506 mainly due to the fact that each kompanie was represented in a different color, from unit color to unit numbers. White for the 1st kp, Red for the 2nd kp, and Yellow for the 3rd. - Tanz

Operation Avalanche in History

Operation Avalanche was an invasion of Salermo by the US 5th Army. It began on 9 September, 1943, without preliminary bombardment to secure surprise. The two British divisions landing faced stiff resistance which diverted them from linking up with the US forces. The American 36th Division was also counterattacked, with components of the 141st and 142nd Regimental Combat Teams being faced with determined opposition. The 141st lost cohesion and failed to gain the depth needed to land artillery or anti-tank guns in support, but the 142nd fared better and pushed forward. At the end of the day, X Corps' two assault divisions had pushed forward 5 to 7 miles and the special forces had advanced north across the Sorrento Peninsula. 36th Division had established itself to 5 miles even though the 141st RCT was still stuck near the beach. The Germans were sending in reinforcement, however, including the Hermann Göring Division and the 15th and 29th Panzergrenadier divisions.

By 12th September, X Corps had been forced to the defensive due to the lack of any reserves to form an attack.On 13 September, the Germans launched a counteroffensive focused on the line between the two Allied Corps. That afternoon, two German battlegroups attacked through Pesano and across the Sele, overrunning one and nearly wiping out a second Allied battalion. This strike was only stopped by artillery firing over open sights, naval gunfire and an infantry position consisting of artillerymen, drivers, cooks and anyone else the 36th's commander could find. Because of this, the 82nd airborne was dropped to join the Allied line rather than jumping in an attack on Capua as planned. German probes on the 14th were rejected with serious loss under strong bombardment from the 5th Army artillery, the Royal Navy and all available bombers. By the 15th, LXXVI Panzer Corps had been forced onto a defensive stance, and was waiting for the results of an attack by XIV Panzer Corps. After indecisive fighting, the Germans reached a decision that the Allied air and naval superiority were decisive and the main objective of preventing troops being cut off had succeeded. After this battle, the Italian campaign became a series of attacks against prepared defensive lines.

If you have your T-54 you can convert it to Type 59 by just send it to Chinese factory to install Lowe printing machine!
