I'm trying to decide which tank line to spend the Holiday Ops discounts on, and I've narrowed it down to two lines: the British light/medium line (starting with the Cruiser Mk. III and going up the Cromwell) and the Swedish light/medium line (starting with the Strv. m/38 and going up to the Strv 74). Which would be more fun for a guy who's quite frankly a "tomato" in most tanks? If it helps to know, I usually play medium tanks in a support/flanking role. Note that I don't plan on getting past tier 7 or so, this line will be solely for fun in the low and mid tiers, so I don't really care about how the Centurions compare with the Emils.

No contest British tanks win at those tiers, the Comet is a fantastic tier seven and beats the Leo by far.  The Cromwell beats the strv 74 at tier six, mostly due to speed, the strv 74 is much slower but better on hills.

For tier 7, both lines end in fantastic mediums.  The brits get fantastic mediums all the way up to the 10, the Centurion, Cent 7/1, and CAX are all worthwhile for play.

I took a gander at your past performance and would probably recommend the Swedish medium line.  It's a bit more forgiving and lacks the yolo-speed the Cromwell has.  You do play a lot of mediums, but aren't that hot in them, and the Cromwell/Comet can be rather OP in a good player's hands but is rather trash when piloted by a less skilled player.

That's not me trying to be mean, just suggesting the line that'll probably fit you the best.

Go for the British mediums since the line goes to tier-X unlike the Swedish that only has until tier-VII then changes to a heavy tanks line tier-VIII to -X.

I think the British mediums, especially the tier-X medium, are dubbed as, "the jack of all trades".

Swedes are getting a full line soon but who knows how good they'll be.

Is there any further info on it?  I only see them commenting on it without showing the proposed expansion of the tech tree.

Dez Gamez did a review on the new Swedish premium tier 8 medium and he said it sucked. So far there is nothing to write home about the new Swedish mediums.

He didn't do a review of it, he just had the stats.

Not much to add.   What we know today ... British is by far superior.

I'll just add that the British line also has the Cromwell B premium that goes on sale for cash every so often. Nothing too special about the tank itself but it's always nice to have a mid tier crew trainer, however it comes with a 5 man zero skill BiA crew which is quite an advantage and that's special :)

The even nicer thing about it is that once you've bought it, and it's usually not that expensive in the smallest bundle, is that if you purchase it again you get the gold value for the tank and you get to keep the BiA crew. The gold value for the tank is usually right around the asking price which means that if have a use for the gold you get the BiA crew for "free"

If you are not planning to go to high tiers, definitely choose the Swedish line. The Lago and the Strv 42 both have punchy 76mm guns instead of the frankly pathetic 40mm and 57mm guns of the Covenanter and Crusader. The Strv 74 also beats the Cromwell hands down, with a highly accurate 150 alpha gun and 15º of gun depression instead of the Cromwell's horrible gunhandling and 135 alpha. Between the Leo and the Comet, I found both to be terrible and would advise not going past Tier 6 unless you want to unlock the high tier tanks. However, if you want to go to high tiers the British line is superior as the Centurions are much better tanks than the Emils/Kranvagn.

The cromwell is a millions times more fun to play than the strv 74.

To somewhat echo what Tsavo said, the Swedish line is overall more forgiving at low tiers. Both the tier 4 and 5 are decidedly easier to use. At tier six it comes down to wanting maneuverability or gun handling. The Crommwell is fast, the STRV is accurate.  In most cases accuracy is more noob friendly than speed. However the STRV is significantly slower all of the other tier six meds, and might not be the best medium to learn in. The tier sevens are more similar than the tier sixes. The Leo does have the lol derp 105, which could prove fun. Other than that the only real major difference IIRC is the leo is a little faster than the Comet, and the Comet has a better turret (and maybe gun depression).

I personally like the Brits more, but the Swedes might be a better fit.

OP - play them all.

Play everything - including arty.  It's the only way to figure out this game and to be able to anticipate players' moves.

Most of all have fun and don't worry about your stats.  Certainly track them to see if you are generally improving - but don't worry one second about what someone else thinks about your stats.

Most people recommended the British, and the stats seem to favor the British, but taking into account what Tsavo and nac2011, I decided to go with the Swedes. I'll probably go back and do the British as well after I'm satisfied with the Swedish line.

Thanks for the help guys!

I personally enjoy the Brit mediums, but for a noob, they really aren't the easiest.  The US and Russian mediums are the easiest for beginners, IMHO.
