I have been involved with computer gaming , offline and online , since 1988. I was born in 1956 and I'll be 63 years old in a week.

I have been reading lately a lot about older people keeping their minds young by playing computer games.

I think WOT is the perfect game for older people.  When you boil it down,  it's entirely about keeping the neighbor's kids off your lawn.

Man, ya'll making me feel like a kid at 32.  Stahp.

I remember 32, back when dinosaurs walked the earth.

Well maybe not that far back. My granny remembered them.

Children make magnificent time dilation devices.

They speed up the Merry Go Round of life quite a bit.

Wear on the gears too.

Totally worth it! :great:

My eldest is 31. :teethhappy:

I turned 65 in October....and promptly retired.  The first online game I ever played was City of Heroes...and it was a blast.  I still miss it.  I've been playing WoT for more than 5 years....and I still stink to High Heaven.  I can't bear to look at my stats....

58 here and have been playing games since before video games came onto the scene.  When I was 12 going on 13 I went to a friend's house when I was at a new school.  I went to his room and across the floor was this huge map with hexagons on it.  Storm Over Europe, board wargame.  He showed me the rules, which was HUGE by any game rule book I had ever seen.

Around 7pm his mom yells up, "Is your friend going to stay for dinner?"

I ask, "What time is it?"

He says, "Almost seven."

"Oh my God!  I gotta go!" And I tore down the stairs, saying, "Sorry, can't stay for dinner, thanks for asking," and was out the door, jumping on my bike and pedaling home as fast as I could.

It was the only time I ever got grounded in my life for being home late.  i was hooked.  I had always been hanging out whenever possible at the bowling alley and pool halls to play pinball games before that.

When video games appeared, I was there.

Now I'm here, many years later.  You'll stop me gaming when I stop breathing.  I plan on breathing for some time to come.  This game pretty much has most of my free time attention.

Wait --- are you guys telling me that children, teens, and young adults play this tank game too?! I thought it was just us old  --- ahem --- "mature" sorts that make up the whole player base. I'm gonna go fax this news (if I can get up from the davenport...)

Seriously, discovering and playing this game proves that no matter how old we get, our brains are still growing and learning new skills. In 5 decades on earth, there are certain neurons that didn't get completely accessed in my noggin until WoT came along. Our generation just didn't really have this sort of thing --- glad we found it, and glad all you guys are here to enjoy the journey!

WG needs a new emblem.

Something to symbolise all the "Older" tankers.

Maybes a Sheaf of Oats and a slogan like "Old Age and Treachery".

I'd use a few.

Hail all FA players!!

I will be 61 in a few. Was in FA chatroom after they went down and saw mention of this game. Been here ever since. I am semi-retired. Had 4 joint replacement surgeries, 5 eye surgeries, cant see out of right eye, which sucks as I cant focus on the map well enough. Need to be able to swap it to the  chat side....(HINT) . I have researched l most all the tanks in the game and killed almost all of them too. I lost almost a full percentage point of wr helping a clan do missions. Stupidest thing I have done.

I built a ps2 machine from boeing surplus in order to play fighter ace. I loved that game and still miss it.

Maybe someone needs to get some kind of fighter ace thing going here. that would be cool.

I was NO_Stepchild_CM

OP you've been involved since 1988 ?   I started programming computers in 1974, and retired in 2015.   Had to, most of my brain cells were fried LOL.   I've been playing WoT since 2012.   Had a quadruple bypass a year ago this month that slowed me down for awhile, but now I'm back to pretty much full speed.

I'm 71 and have been playing WOT for about 6 years. Our group did Call of Duty before that. We don't do any of the clan competitions just enjoy getting together on TeamSpeak.
