So, the maps have been increasingly geared towards brawling and corridors. I think, given that the E50 line is one of the oldest in the game, a rework to reflect the changing game play focus would be great to breath some new life into the line.

My proposal? Make them more balanced 430U's; medium tank hunters, and brawlers.

So I'm thinking focus on the turrets, the clear weaknesses in the line's armor profile. 200mm flat plate for the Panther I, 240mm for the Panther II, and 300mm flat plate for the E50 and E50M on the turret front (yes, seriously, let me finish).

However the turrets should be heavy enough that you cannot equip the turrets AND the top engine.

To keep them from being stupidly underpowered if one does NOT want to go with the pseudo heavy build, the stock turrets should all have the Panther's rounded gun mantlet (with better turret roof armor to prevent overmatch  but retaining the cupola), and feature 120mm, 160mm, and 200mm respectively for the Panther, Panther II, and E50, and to give the Panther a shot while grinding stock, the 75mm L/70 should be buffed to its historic penetration of 179mm.

Additionally the top engines should be dropped back one tier (bearing in mind both the new top engine and top turrets could not be mounted simultaneously) That's 750hp on the Panther (vs 700 currently), 900hp on the Panther II (vs 750 currently), 1200 on the E50 and E50M.

Basically this splits the line into two distinct, but direct combat-focused roles based on how they are configured. Either fast, agile, and reasonably armored, but lightly armed mediums (eg like everyone else), or slow, well armored, and well armed mediums that will serve more as medium tank hunters than flankers or traditional mediums.

Obviously the cupolas and lower hulls would still be weak spots.

Thoughts?

Giving the E50 and E50M the same engine would defeat the purpose of going up to the E50M. I'd also say drop the turret thickness to 220 on the E50, and 260 on the E50M. Don't make the turret stupidly impenetrable, make it so the tank plays similarly to the E100 when not firing. You have to angle your turret, otherwise it's still a weakspot if someone presses their 2 key.

Split the difference and give it a 1000hp engine? It really needs something to bump its maneuverability a tad, especially on hills.

And I'd disagree with the specific thicknesses on the turret. I think, like the Russian turrets, the face should be effectively immune to standard rounds (noting that unlike many Russian turrets, it will retain a reasonably sized weak spot on the cupola (as well as shot trap on the stock turret), and a gargantuan LFP.

Especially since they would be slow SOB's, they need to be strong SOB's.

Seriously though, if they don't tank hits and bounce gold rounds as well as the 430U line, WG hasn't buffed them enough.
