I obtained this tank mainly for the gun and the perception that it would hold up in face-hugging exchanges... no so much.

After 10 games -- I'm not impressed.

Now to be fair -- I am not a particularly good player overall -- but this tank just seems deficient when compared to the likes of 268/4, 110E3 (or even T95) or it's predecessor JgPz Tiger...

I am considering selling it back --

So question -- have I missed (likely) the essential value of this tank and should keep it?  OR No, I got it right and this is not a particularly good tier 10, dump the sucker?

Thank you!

Well, ive seen people use it's HE to do massive amounts of damage to people, but personally i don't really rate fixed turret TDs very much for obvious mobility reasons.

The Jageru was my first Tier X. Needless to say, I was disappointed when I got there, partly because Tier X is way more difficult than my inexperienced self had anticipated, and partly because the Jag has a very difficult playstyle.

She's not the best in virtually any regard, more of a deterrent force than an actual dominator on the battlefield, but if you park your Jag in an alleyway, people are going to think twice before poking.

Should you sell it or keep it? Honestly, it's hard to say after 10 battles. You already spent the Credits to buy the tank so you might as well give it a try for at least like 100 battles. When it comes to angling, you really need to over-angle the armor to maximize effectiveness. The cheeks on your superstructure are vulnerable to HEAT so much like an E-100 needs to angle its turret, you need to angle your chassis. Check the armor viewer on Tanks.gg but I think you can get away with angling up to almost 45 degrees.

The Jag's playstyle requires a vast amount of game knowledge and forethought. You are a slow, hulking behemoth. If you choose the wrong flank you likely will not have time to reposition before the vital flank collapses. The 22 second reload will cause you to constantly second-guess yourself when presented with a risky shot, and half the time you will flub the risky shot only for a much better one to present itself a few seconds later.

TL;DR - Play some more battles before you decide what to do with the tank. It's definitely one of those tanks where all the stars need to align for you to have a monster game, but when they do align and you do have that monster game, it is oh so satisfying.

Keep it.

Current meta you can't really brawl with it anymore, use it more as support for meds and heavies. You'll get hammered with gold spam for easy mode, ap easily cuts through your lower plate. I'm not too bad in it, I do enjoy the tier 9 much more but, you can still wreck people in it.

Keep it because you spent the silver on it already.

Ok -- I'll keep it (for now) and play much more conservatively -- related question, I'll keep a mix of ammo, but is HE the first choice??? (kinda like way back in the Hetzer -- you quickly learn the HE is the only choice)

+1 to all responders -- thank you!

Fixed turret tanks are more difficult in general but the Jp is a decent tank.  There are a number of YouTube videos where they only load HE and do very well.  Remember the ground under the tanks can be shot and hit the soft underbelly.  One of my first t10's and I still have it.  When angled it can bounce a fair number of shots.

You and Domo mentioned angling (up to 45 degrees!).   I'm a bit mystified -- if the gun is fixed --- how do you angle and still have shots?  Are you angling while reloading only?

Dump it. I did. The armor is overrated.

With a 22 second reload, you have lots of time to angle before you need to get back on target.

I run 6 AP, 12 gold, 6 HE.

First round loaded is HE for those fast scouts/soft meds, or pop shot for known camp bush.

The E 100 and Maus, which both have turrets, are still unable to shoot when angling, since their turrets need to be angled as well. The idea is not to angle when you have a shot, but to angle when only your opponent has a shot (which is both before and after you shoot, because you are so slow that you can expect your opponent to always shoot first). If both of you have shots, you win, because you just blap them.

What makes you think a TD is really good for face hugging?  You want to keep your distance and limit the opponent's ability to get to your sides and/or rear, meaning you want protection using either a structure or a boundary.

Patio it wasn't the Tank that sucked... Looking at your stats at Tier 10 Hmmmm.... Keep it.. Use HE.. Go on the front lines and give some damage and take some hits.. Has better HE than a Type 5 and we all know about Type 5 HEs..

Park it in the garage when you're done playing it. Don't sell it or play it, just hold it. It won't get buffed in the future because its German but who knows? Maybe with WG trying to "kill" the gold meta and with more maps, it could find some use. Though with this meta, I don't have much faith in any of the TDs save the STRV, FV 4005, or the E3.

I'm just a regular player, but imho the JgPz E100 is increasingly underwhelming, more and more with every increment of power creep. The tragedy is the great crew retrained for this vehicle: wasted in an under-powered, under-armored, and under-gunned damage sponge.

I've never sold a tier 10.  Some I haven't played in years (T57HT was my first tier 10 dating from 2013, and couldn't tell you the last time I played it)

one never knows when a tank will be buffed, or suitable for some personal mission, so I grind to a lot of tier 10s, casually, and then go back to playing keepers

anyway, I generally don't play slow tanks as they bore me.  I played a quick 55 battles in it after finishing the grind a year or two ago, and won a lot by NOT camping, and instead driving up with the heavies and even pushing for them - it has a lot of hps, so if you bounce even half of the shots fired at you (and it can) then you help your team win, which apparently is how I won 65% of that small sample size because my dpg in it isn't anywhere near what I'd call decent.

I use 7 AP 10 HEAT 7 HE for my loadout. HE is very useful for hull-down tanks on a ridge.
