So we can all agree they are not intended, and some give a huge advantage to one side.

But should WG keep some in or add some that are balanced and both sides have one?

I think it adds an extra layer to LT gameplay and map knowledge.

Thoughts?

It's not a matter of whether each side of the map has a climbing spot to use. It's whether a team has the ability to kill the climber when he is up there, even if they don't have their own climber or an arty to be able to lob a shell up there. If a mountain goat tank can get to a spot and be perfectly safe from any other tank on the enemy side, then that climbing spot is broken.

The third dimension is lacking. Look at all the people climbing on that aircraft carrier. It's FUN.

Look at the kids rushing beach on Normandy. It's Fun. Cliffs and crags and gorges are fun. More please.

As far as climbing/secret spots. I'd like those areas to be more obvious or the exploit will tilt too heavily in one players favor.

Knowing a place exits and having a friend open a training episode so you can learn how to get there are two different things.

Ok I agree with you there.

They should not be hard to kill.

Sure.  If its on the map, and accessible, let it go.  Besides, gives arty something to shoot at when other targets are not available... Ohwait, Arty has been nerfed for damage and accuracy over time.. nvm.

The A6(ish) spot on Cliff was a 100% legitimate sniping position for the longest time (as in you could just drive up there in any tank), then WG decided they didn't want people going up there.
After two failed attempts to keep people from getting up there, WG just reopened the spot, and added a spot for south side to use.

More stuff like that, please.

WG's combination of putting little effort into blocking climbs while obfuscating their presence in public relations is the real problem. They are in effect attempting to downplay the issue instead of doing something about it. They have now at least made a decision, though I do think it is an extreme and inconsiderate one.

*Tinfoil on*

I have begun to suspect, like many others, that corridor maps are more profitable than open maps, perhaps because they force players into more frontal engagements and thus fire more ammunition (especially premium), increasing expenses per game and thereby premium content sales. Since climbing is one way to bypass this, WG is incentivized to prevent it, though it has taken them an inexplicably long time to take any significant action, and it seems that they are only taking said action because of the introduction of wheeled vehicles.

*Tinfoil off*

TL;DR: Balanced climbs allow for more varied gameplay. Creating new maps is resource-intensive, whereas improving existing maps is much less so; introducing balanced and easily-accessible climbs is one way to achieve the latter.

The only ones who want climbing back are those that need spots like that one on Sacred Valley to do something "useful".

Too bad they can't enable climbs for training rooms, a lot of people would take advantage and nobody would suffer in a match.

More FUN and DIMENSION of play should be made in this game, not less...

I'm always irritated that I can't even climb hills/mountains that have "paths" blocked off, let alone not able to do other climbing, i.e. not having the speed especially to do so.

Removing op climbing spots, or the ones that are hard to get even with specific tanks is e right thing to do.
But of course WG went beyond and also started removing every single normal climb and also the boosts (the ones accessible by teamwork), now with each patch and new reworked maps only the hard climbs remain, you know, the ones the only light tank on your team will waste the early minutes of the battle trying to get up to instead of actually scouting.

Tundra is a good example of this, originally this map had several very easy climbs on both sides, some accessible to even slow tanks like the amx40. Now those are all gone, except for a very hard climb on the southeast and the backdoor entrance to the hill for the north. Both only available to very fast tanks.

im not sure about leaving them as opposed to closing them,i figure they dont get used much.HOWEVER if WG does close off ANY seeming-climbable areas, they should put a very obvious block in place.no invisible walls or super-grease-ice patches that you only discover while trying to access those areas.we dont need teammates wasting even more time trying to get to someplace that is closed off,but there is NO obvious blockage.brickwalls, rockfalls, small cliffs etc. that are easily seen.
