Any sympathy for the OP went out the window once he wished ill on the families of others for the sin of disagreeing with him.

No, the employer must engage in the interactive reasonable accommodation process. If such reasonable accommodation cannot be provided, especially if it is a bona fide or essential job requirement, then the employer is under no obligation to hire/retain the applicant/employee.


An example would be a blind person applying for a job that has a driving as an essential requirement. Not only does the applicant not have a driver's license, the applicant cannot perform the essential function of the job. However, if there is a job that has driving as a non-essential component of the job, the employer must engage in an interactive process for reasonable accommodation for the applicant.
