This was posted on reddits legal forum today. Its not me but maybe one you out their playing WOT's

Divorce is imminent, but before I talk to a lawyer I kind of want to know what to expect.

To sum up the last year, I learned that my husband has spent a lot of money on in app purchases for a video game. He drained our savings, over drew our bank account, and maxed out his credit card. He then took out a substantial loan using my vehicle as collateral (in both of our names, I’m pretty sure, but I primarily use it), paid off his credit card then maxed it out again within a week from in app purchases to the tune of $6,000+.

The final numbers aren’t clear because he is pretty good at hiding things, but it is at least $20,000 over the last year. Probably more.

Side note, through this game he has a virtual girlfriend, for lack of a better phrase. He has sent her gifts and spent money on her through the game. He has never met her in person, as far as I can tell.

I’m in Oklahoma, but different people I have asked have given me different answers about my liability.

The question here is... Am I responsible for his credit card debt and the loan he acquired by using my vehicle as collateral since we are married? Is this considered marital debt or will he be responsible for all of that since it did not benefit me or our children whatsoever?

marriage is 50/50.  which is why i stopped getting married. instead, every couple years i find some woman i can't stand and simply buy her a house. cheaper in the long run and saves everyone a lot of aggravation.

Video game addiction is real and can lead to things like this (old story, but not rare), and worse.

Joint account and you are both liable for paying off the debt.

Single account should be a personal debt.

How it goes in the USA I cannot comment but that's how it is in the UK.

I cannot really say without knowing if you are female or gay. I do not click on links so I am going by what you have posted. Assuming you are a gay couple you can get a balanced deal from the courts, including making him solely responsible for his own debt. Just be sure to have records of what was bought and if possible who bought it. If you are female then you own him no matter what. Divorce courts are 95%+ for the female. Especially if you file first. If you are thinking about it and posting here it is past time to file.

Just for the Simps and Cucks that will respond to what I said by saying stuff like "who hurt you", "It's not true", etc. Suck it. Look up the facts before even posting. Those speak for themselves. FYI. Been married 31 years. Ups and downs but marriage is a lifetime commitment that we, wife and I, believe can only be voided in a couple specific ways. Overall it has been good. Sorry to hear you are having troubles to this extent.

Was it ever mentioned that it was for WoT? Reading through it and I just feel bad for the wife. Has to go through a divorce and on top of that will be saddled with paying back at least half that debt since it was joint credit cards.

edit: This thread is idiotic, the OP got way from the organ grinder, responding to it in a reasonable way was silly.

The virtual girlfriend part makes me think it's a game like WoW or something to that effect.

Go directly to an attorney, everyone has different stories but you should get legal advice asap pertaining to your situation. Where shared assets are concerned it is important to get them protected.

The emotional toll is expensive as well, family and friends help there.

Do not be bitter or vindictive on-line as anything can be be used against you to muddy the waters.

My 1st marriage of 5 years took over 10yrs to pay off which took a toll on the 2nd marriage,so look to the future.

There is a future by the way and so far my 2nd marriage has lasted for over 30 years.

Fair winds and following seas to you on this tough journey.

Two questions:

1. How can you spend that much on WOT?

2.Is the "girlfriend" part of a mod pack, if so, which one?

I remember my brothers ex-wife filed for SS while he was working. I think he spent 15 years paying that off after his divorce. Im not crazy about being single but when I hear stories of partners blowing all their money, sometimes I feel thankful to be single.

Around of feasts for everyone? Really sounds though like a pay to play game like WOW. But you cant blame WG for monetizing the game more and more when their are people out their with gaming addictions that blow money. I thought my $30/year is a lot.

The game is Zgirls. As far as I can tell since I have never played it or anything like it, you form an army with other players then attack the opposing armies. You can make in app purchase for amounts between $.99 to $99.99. I think they are used to make your army stronger or reduce wait times before you can get power ups or something similar. It is not a casino game so there is literally no possible benefit from the purchases outside of the game.

Well, that is the story of video game addiction and ruination of the family. Expect to have a long debt repayment if you are both joint accounts/credit cards, and co signers of loans.

All I can say is good luck.

I hope he at least got an IS-3A with that volume of expenditures.
