It's the Pacific Northwest's turn to get hammered by winter. I'm in the midst of a full blown Northwest style blizzard.

 

 

Ya, for this area that's a blizzard.

I recently moved from Seattle to Fairbanks in search of more snow, so then Seattle decides to go and pull a fast one on me!?

 

Well, at least I've got plenty of snow year-round here xd

Yes, you are correct there is obvious snowfall but there is hardly any snow on the ground. With similar amount of snow around here they only clear bus routes and main roads only, industrial and residential areas are usually left untouched by snow plows.

Its the hills in Seattle that become the problem. Today's snow hit melted a little then froze. Lots of fun

We don't get snow very often in this area. I've lived in this area my whole life and we can go several winters in a row without ever seeing snow. When it does snow many of the drivers on the road are noobs.

 

Seattle, as someone already mentioned, is built on a hillside and has some steep roads.

Do you remember the year Seattle decided to go green and not deice the roads? They didn't want to pollute the Puget Sound and Pacific Ocean with salt.

 

 

Can you imagine being the bus driver as you crash through the rail.

Monday's snow it still on the ground and heavy snow began falling a while ago. I went to the store this morning and what a mess. It was so crowed it was hard to move and first time I've ever seen empty shelves. This is why.

The shelves at the mega mart here in the Beaver State were empty and lines were at the back of the store according to Mrs. G Series but all I needed was Rockstar so we are well prepared. If the snow doesnt show I will attribute it to another case of Chicken Little syndrome from the "Fake Weather" outlets.

This time in my area they got it right.

 

For the Seattle area this is extreme. The last time around here I saw snow this deep was 1980.

That's quite a bit for sure. It just started falling here about 20 minutes ago so I will see what happens.

Looks like I'm going to be up all night. After talking to a friend about strange odors coming out of my gas furnace plus my recent headaches and the burning sensation in my eyes and nose I may be having a carbon monoxide problem but because of the cold temperatures I have to keep the furnace going so pipes don't start freezing. I'll be spending the night in my computer room with the heat vent and door shut sitting next to an electric heater. I'm going to go out tomorrow morning and get a carbon monoxide monitor to see if that really is the problem  I would not be sleeping to well anyway. A few hours ago I received a call informing my uncle in California had died. He entered hospice Friday and has been in much pain for a while so he's in a better place now.

If you think you have a CO problem get the hell out of the house. It accumulates in your body and just getting fresh air will not solve the problem. Call your local fire department if you wan to check for carbon monoxide...
